Job Purpose
The Senior Project Engagement Specialist is responsible for meeting the outreach and education needs of National Grid's gas complex capital infrastructure projects. Part of the success of a project at National Grid heavily depends on the quality of its relationships and interactions with stakeholders. As part of multiple project teams, the Senior Specialist will play a pivotal role, responsible for a multimillion-dollar portfolio of complex construction projects, implementing strategic public engagement campaigns to safeguard the on-time and on-or-under budget build-out of these projects.
Key Accountabilities
- Represent the Company as the Subject Matter Expert for stakeholder relations and public engagement for complex construction projects
- Create and manage the outreach and education, engagement collateral needed for the educational needs of a variety of audiences supporting a portfolio of gas complex capital projects
- Develop strategic proactive project messaging, anticipating the needs of communities, and boiling technical information down to messaging that is easily understood by the public
- Plan and execute project-related events, including open houses and public statement hearings
- Work with internal and external stakeholders throughout planning, permitting, construction, and post-construction phases of projects to proactively solve issues around project impacts; including noise, traffic, visual, recreation, etc.
- Build and maintain long-term professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders (i.e., Engineering, Legal, Environmental, Project Management, Corporate Affairs, and Leadership) within a defined geographic footprint in support of complex capital projects, ensuring community and municipal relationship management is embedded into National Grid's standard practice for all complex capital projects
Qualifications
- Natural problem-solver working within a team to plan and execute for outreach and education, and to respond to stakeholder questions
- Manage and measure the execution of outreach plans with internal stakeholders across disciplines (e.g., Project Management, Corporate Affairs, Environmental, etc.)
- Communicate complex engineering, environmental, construction, and regulatory information
- Develop strategic, informative, professional letters and collateral
- Anticipate, plan and execute successful events in potentially contentious environments
- Strong relationship-builder
- Available for evening meetings and presentations
- Travel required, including off-hours
- Valid driver's license required

Salary
$109,000 - $121,600 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
