As a Sales Underwriter, you’ll be essential to our Underwriting department, collaborating closely with and reporting to our Director of UW. You’ll be the guard of financial integrity, assessing potential new clients and ensuring a smooth underwriting process for activating new clients. Here’s what you’ll be up to:

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing new and existing applications with finesse, using our Salesforce-backed system.
  • Flexing your communication and problem-solving muscles by liaising with our dynamic Sales team.
  • Applying your sharp analytical skills to evaluate risk using our tried-and-true underwriting guidelines.
  • Navigating our proprietary system to audit client data and files like a pro.
  • Engaging with external partners such as banks and equipment finance companies to iron out any wrinkles.
  • Seamlessly transitioning client data within our system to keep things flowing smoothly.
  • Collaborating across departments to ensure we're bringing on board clients who truly add value.
  • Putting the cherry on top by preparing UCC filings to secure our contracts.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills and good judgement
  • A knack for handling difficult conversations
  • Strong communicator with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • A high level of creativity, curiosity, and intellect—plus, a killer sense of humor!
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and a love for all things tech-related.
  • Unimpeachable integrity and a passion for being part of a collaborative team.

Caitlin has been with OTR for almost 9 years. She helps oversee the due diligence and risk management checks to ensure that when a client is onboarded with OTR, the funding process is as seamless and easy as possible.

Her favorite part of the job? Daily team collaboration. "I may be biased, but our team operates like a well-oiled machine. One of Underwriting’s main tasks is helping trucking companies transition from their current or previous factoring company over to OTR. Recently, we had a client leave OTR and come back in less than two weeks! They realized their new factor could not provide the service they had here."

For Ryan Goodrich, the greatest aspect of his job isn’t simply having the chance to use cloud-native technologies. The way in which employees are empowered to leverage these tools is what’s most exciting. “We challenge our technologists to determine the right tool to use to solve a problem, and we give them space to develop the best possible solutions,” Goodrich said. In his mind, all of this modern innovation is made possible by the company’s position in its field. “No other player in freight has the omnichannel access to information that we do,” Goodrich said.
