Position Purpose

Under infrequent supervision, handles and resolves matters of billing and collections for the company's delinquent accounts. Provides monthly reporting on matters of collections. As a Lead Customer Accounting Specialist, day to day responsibilities are similar to previous roles described with growing complexity and expectations.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve complex billing and collection issues.
  • Produce billing invoices, statements, and delinquent notices.
  • Supervise activities of staff to ensure duties are performed timely, accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist staff in the administration of premium accounting functions.
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Monitor, train and evaluate the performance of Premium Accounting staff.
  • Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Typically requires an associate's degree in accounting or related field
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • [OR] equivalent level of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external contacts involved in the billing and collection processes.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software as well as general ledger and billing and collections applications to identify, analyze, and resolve billing and collection issues.
  • Ability to research complex billing and collection issues and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Ability to lead and supervise lower level employees.
