Job Description

The Director of Marketing Operations is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to streamline and optimize the marketing operations of the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring that marketing campaigns are executed efficiently and data is collected and analyzed effectively. This role involves managing cross-functional processes and leveraging data and technology to drive marketing effectiveness. The role combines elements of marketing, technology, data analysis, and project management to ensure the marketing team operates efficiently and effectively. The Director of Marketing Operations plays a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing marketing processes and workflows. The Director of Marketing Operations will create and own recommendations and insights into marketing’s performance, aligned with marketing spend to focus and improve marketing ROI.

This position requires a combination of leadership, strategic thinking, and technical expertise to drive marketing excellence within the organization.

Key Responsibilities


  1. Marketing Strategy Alignment:

    • Collaborate with the Vice President, Global Marketing to align marketing strategies and tactics with overall business objectives.

    • Develop and maintain a marketing operations strategy that supports the company's growth and revenue goals.

  2. Team Leadership:

    • Build and lead a high-performing marketing operations team.

    • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering professional growth and development.

  3. Process Optimization:

    • Streamline marketing processes and workflows to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for marketing operations. 

    • Own the processes for demand generation, campaign management, lead routing, and data integration; build and implement models and process for passing leads and accounts to the business development representatives.

  4. Data Analysis and Reporting:

    • Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of marketing data to make informed decisions and recommendations.

    • Partner with the Business Intelligence team in order to produce regular reports and interactive dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and campaign results with a focus on return on investment (ROI).

    • Derive insights and present findings to executive leadership and marketing functional leaders. 

    • Build performance visibility into all parts of the marketing engine to surface actionable insights at the point of planning and execution.

  5. Marketing Technology Management:

    • Evaluate, implement, and manage marketing technology solutions, including marketing automation platforms, analytics tools, and CRM systems, to drive efficiency, effectiveness, and scale.

    • Ensure the integration and utilization of marketing technology to enhance campaign execution and measurement.

  6. Budget Management:

    • Collaborate with VP, Revenue Operations and VP, Global Marketing to develop and manage marketing operations requirements for budget/investment planning.

    • Monitor expenses and optimize resource allocation to maximize ROI.

    • Manage relationships with external vendors and agencies to support marketing initiatives.

  7. Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other departments such as sales, product management, product marketing, Legal, Security and Compliance, and IT to ensure alignment and collaboration on marketing initiatives.

  8. Compliance and Governance:

    • Ensure marketing activities comply with industry regulations and company policies.

    • Implement data privacy and security measures to protect customer information.

  9. Database and Data Integrity:

    • Manage and grow marketing databases that power analytics, audience targeting, and personalization while ensuring effective data stewardship.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years experience in marketing operations or a related role, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role.
  • Strong leadership, team management and project management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to engage in strategic discussions and navigate complex business concepts.
  • 7+ years working to define marketing strategies, trends, and best practices. 
  • 7+ years in marketing technology and automation platforms (e.g., CRM, marketing automation, analytics).
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excels at direction-setting, consensus-building, and communication in a dynamic, collaborative culture.
  • Proven ability to build a marketing operations team around a vision that drives business results through internal collaboration and cross-functional engagement.
  • Passionate about using data to answer critical business questions and drive decision making.
  • Deep understanding of advanced concepts around campaign orchestration, nurturing, and other marketing automation campaign capabilities.

Additional Information

The expected annual base salary range for this position is: $126,000/year to $182,000/year. This position is bonus eligible / commission-based.
As a Remote-First company, actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if extended, and is determined by work location and a range of other relevant factors, including but not limited to: experience, skills, degrees, licensures, certifications, and other job-related factors. Internal equity, market and organizational factors are also considered.
