GSC Material Office Manager VAA/CI
Description
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will manage the processes required to schedule and deliver all production parts from the third party suppliers to the Assembly Plant. Some of these responsibilities are listed below but this list is not all inclusive:
- Single point contact to manage/coordinate all activities between 3rd parties which include VAA, LOC, 4 Tier 1 JIT suppliers, and logistics shuttle provider. Ensure minimal supply chain impact to GM.
- Problem Solve and root cause Supply Chain/Quality issues impacting production from 3rd Parties. Issue cost recoveries as appropriate.
- Efficiently create and manage the 3rd Party budget and communicate regularly with GM Finance and suppliers on any changes to the budget forecast.
- Drive productivity improvements & cost savings at VAA & LOC using Waste Elimination/Space Workshops, GMOS implementation, and initiating OPEX projects in support of the 9000 Cost Council.
- Lead new initiatives, scope of work, and business cases that impact the 3rd Parties.
- Monitor third party compliance to all GM Corporate audit procedures.
- Issue purchase orders and monitor all payments to LOC and VAA
- Enforce contractual obligations and manage cost sheet for 3rd party vendors.
- Collaborate with Purchasing & Finance on Future Launch and Start-up cost negotiations & Scope Changes at 3rd parties.
- Communicate with GM Real estate, Property Management, and GM Maintenance to enforce lease and license agreements at LOC and VAA 3rd parties.
- Think both strategically and tactically while also working with all departments and levels of leadership
- Manage internal staff to achieve desired Business Plan goals for Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost and Environmental.
- Manage Supply Chain Budget for Plant and HQ teams. Single point contact to Material Supply Operations (MSO) - Interface between Global Supply Chain (GSC) and Finance for 3rd party suppliers
- Manage GSC reporting and improvement measures (logistics, premium freight, inventory forecasting, days on hand inventory, obsolete material, aged ASN, suppliers behind schedule, buyer related problems, capacity issues, mins and maxes, etc.)
- GMS Leader. Focus on Short Lead Time (SLT) to achieve BIQ IV and GMS Next
- Support special projects such as New Product Launches, Operation Excellence (Op Ex), etc.
- Manage Lean Logistics Material Follow Up (Ryder) and Arlington Assembly Material Floor Coordination activities
- Oversee Plant Scheduling and Advance orders for MVB, PTR, BTAB purposes along with Engineering Change (breakpoint) process at all 3rd Party suppliers.
- Monitors compliance to all rail and truck loading/unloading and yard safety standards
- Supports Supplier Practical Problem Solving (SPPS) and Cost Recovery process
- Internal Controls compliance for GSC functions, such as Annual Physical Inventory (API)
- Monitor to ensure compliance with Material Reverse Supply Chain Management (RSCM)
- Represents the Department in various activities and committees as required
Additional Description
You will be part of the team responsible for driving the following responsibilities and behaviors:

- Comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements
- Be flexible to work over multiple shifts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (supply chain desirable).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant, full-time work experience.
- Effective knowledge of GM manufacturing and supply chain systems.
- Effective knowledge Cost Negotiations, Real estate, Property Management, and GM Maintenance to enforce lease and license agreements
- Deep understanding of Supply Chain functions and proficient use of MGO, GPS, GEPICS, Excel, PRTS, GQTS, Engineering Work order System (preferred)
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build effective teams, work cross-functionally, teach, and effectively influence without direct authority.
- Ability to provide the Manufacturing team input to successfully navigate an ambiguous environment.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule to allow participation in early morning or evening conferences. Global conference calls.
- Prior Supervisory skills.
- Product launch or project management experience (desirable).
- Experienced in working with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
The role will include relocation benefit for candidate that lives 50 or more miles from location.
This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report on a full-time basis.
