Reston-based AI tech company Empower AI cut the ribbon at its newest facility in Richmond last week. The new state-of-the-art facility is located at 8701 Park Central Drive and will be staffed by over 150 employees across the Richmond area.

Empower AI, previously known as NCI Information Systems, helps federal agencies improve productivity and solve complex challenges. In the past five years, the company has pivoted its attention from IT support to AI technology geared toward government employees. A longtime government contractor, Empower AI’s platform supports Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) programs by automating routine tasks, speeding up decision-making with AI assistance and tracking performance and ROI.

“The Empower AI team is very excited to expand our presence in Richmond,” Empower AI CEO Paul Dillahay said in a statement. “Like our company itself, the new office is designed to support the unique and complex needs of our government clients. The facility has received its authority to operate from CMS and is now fully operational. Our teams are working hard to elevate the missions of those we serve.”

The 19,000-square-foot building will serve as an office and collaboration space for employees and features a new data center with enhanced security features. The location of the facility will also help Empower AI better serve its Medicare and Medicaid clients.

“Empower AI is doing incredible work to deliver one of the most essential services to so many Virginians and Americans,” Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin said in a statement. “When I see companies such as Empower AI expanding and growing, I am reminded that opportunity can truly flourish when innovation and growth are harnessed. Empower AI embodies that combination and executed on their vision, creating opportunity for their employees in Virginia.”
