Determines coverage, liability, compensability, reserves, and damages; negotiates settlements; coordinates litigation and attends trials. Refers matters to subrogation or special investigations teams, participates in reviews, arbitrations, mediations, and field investigations, and mentors team members while providing technical guidance and supporting workload management.

Processes routine workers’ compensation claims by investigating facts, verifying medical and policy information, managing ongoing medical cases, documenting claim activity, authorizing medical payments, drafting correspondence, and identifying cases requiring referral or subrogation. Provides injured workers, employers, and medical providers with timely information and quality service while applying claim protocols and coordinating independent medical exams, peer reviews, and medical management resources.

Leads the Casualty Specialized Claims team, setting strategic and technical direction while managing and developing claims leaders. Oversees severe-exposure specialty portfolios, complex litigation, reserves, settlements, vendors, and loss-cost trends. Collaborates with legal, underwriting, actuarial, reinsurance, and executive stakeholders to develop claim strategies, address legal system abuse, monitor emerging risks, and improve handling protocols and operational performance. Travel is required as business needs dictate.

Conduct investigations of workers' compensation and other commercial casualty claims, determine liability/compensability, estimate losses, negotiate settlements within limits, manage claim inventory, communicate with claimants/customers, and maintain accurate files and reports. Participate in training, mentoring, and on-the-job development.

Manage, investigate, and resolve attorney-represented auto and homeowner bodily injury claims. Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages; coordinate with counsel; prepare for trials/hearings; ensure reserves and secure financial processing; identify suspicious claims and subrogation opportunities; communicate with claimants and policyholders; maintain claim files and reports.

Investigate and process commercial auto physical damage claims within authority limits: assess damage, determine coverage, set reserves, negotiate settlements, prepare or review damage estimates, communicate with insureds/agents/claimants, and refer for appraisal, subrogation, or SIU as needed while maintaining accurate claim documentation.

Leads a specialized casualty claims team managing severe-exposure portfolios, complex litigation, coverage issues, reserves, settlements, vendors, and claim-handling protocols. Partners with legal, underwriting, actuarial, reinsurance, and other stakeholders to develop strategies, monitor litigation trends, address legal system abuse, manage financial outcomes, and improve operational performance. Coaches claims leaders, oversees staffing and portfolio capacity, and presents strategic recommendations to executives and business partners.

Manage complex, litigated construction-related CGL and liability claims valued at $500,000 or more. Responsibilities include coverage analysis, liability assessment, investigations, reserving, litigation strategy, outside counsel and expert management, negotiations, settlements, documentation, and collaboration with legal, underwriting, reinsurance, product, and subrogation teams. The role also mentors claims professionals and contributes to training and process improvements.

Manage a caseload of routine to moderately complex workers' compensation claims: investigate coverage and liability, set and adjust reserves, negotiate settlements within authority, refer to subrogation or SIU as needed, and collaborate with claimants, policyholders, attorneys, and partners. Training (including one week travel to Plano, TX) and reliable attendance are required.
