The role requires hands-on ownership in a small-company environment and pragmatic decisions about scaling and infrastructure investment.

Responsibilities include technical leadership, database design and optimization, automation, performance tuning, upgrades, migrations, disaster recovery, security and compliance, incident response, and mentoring database engineers. Build and maintain globally-redundant infrastructure for a finance-focused AI platform. Scale systems to handle billions of requests and petabytes of data, ensure NSA-level security, debug production across services, and create tooling and standards to accelerate engineering velocity.

Own and expand a Linux-based edge computing platform for factory-deployed systems. Build bare-metal, virtualized, and containerized infrastructure; deploy ML models and LLMs on edge hardware; integrate with MES and industrial protocols; and develop provisioning, updates, rollback, monitoring, recovery, and security capabilities. The role spans architecture through production deployment and includes cross-functional collaboration, technical leadership, mentoring, code review, and documentation.

Designs, manages, and troubleshoots hybrid cloud and bare-metal infrastructure supporting robotic systems.
