Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain XMPP IM servers;
- Design the overall architecture of features in XMPP and communication protocol with Web/Client/PWA, which includes detailed XMPP stanzas, HTTP API requests and response between 3rd party and XMPP;
- Implement the test cases for the new features;
- Develop software for Zoom XMPP Server, provide specific HTTP API interfaces for the client teams;
- Integration testing with development branch and release branch;
- Responsible for Production environment and Server tuning;
- For each release version, ensure no Server code errors or warnings by dialyzer;
- Go through unit/falcon test case, ensuring no crash, and functions work as expected;
- Improve server performance, with newly introduced OTP features;
- Troubleshoot and identify root cause and issue resolution;
- Review the production logs from server, analyze the XMPP process logic to identify the root cause;
- Analyze erl_crash.dump generated by Erlang VM, collect the relevant process stack information and research to identify the root cause;
- Improve the server code based on the bugs analysis;
- Support and maintain existing software functionality to investigate, analyze, and correct identified defects;
- Test performance for each release, making sure the performance is not affected by new features (Ex: Use Tsung to simulate huge amounts of client connections in the new release and compare the metrics of CPU/scheduler/memory with those of previous release);
- Improve the server performance by analyzing the performance test results and identify bottlenecks and problematic code in the new release;
- Maintain the automation testing tools and improve the tool functionality to support more automation in the software testing process;
- Work with Product Manager (PM) to implement new IM features;
- Discuss with PM to achieve understanding of the new feature;
- Develop use-cases to gain a clear understanding of feature requirements;
- Implement and test new features;
- Work closely with remote teams and collaborate on implementation of features for each release cycle;
- Support the integration development with other systems based on XMPP;
- Include the Webinar team which goes through XMPP to match various requirements; and
- Co-work with Client/Marketplace team and 3rd parties to match feature requests.
What we're looking for:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, a related field, or a foreign degree equivalent;
- Must have 4 years of experience in job offered or related occupation;
- Must have 4 years of experience in Erlang;
- Must have 4 years of experience in distributed software services;
- Must have 4 years of experience in Software Engineering;
- Must have 4 years of experience in Software Design;
- Must have 4 years of experience in Software Architecture;
- Must have 2 years of experience in Ejabberd;
- Must have 2 years of experience in XMPP; and
- Must have 2 years of experience in building messaging systems and highly distributed communication platforms.
- Telecommuting work arrangement permitted: position may work in various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S. Position does not require domestic or international travel.

Salary Range or On Target Earnings:
Minimum:
$160,000.00Maximum:
$228,700.00In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.
Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.
We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations.
