We’re looking for a Zone Manager to join our SH1 Papakura to Drury Stage 1B project in South Auckland.

Project Scope: SH1 P2D (Stage 1B) is part of a staged upgrade to improve SH1 and adjacent multi modal travel reliability, access, and safety. Stage 1B ties into Stage1A, NIMT Bridges, and completes a combined 6km of three laned SH1 in both directions, six new motorway bridges and multiple interfacing local roads, over motorway bridges, Shared User Paths (SUPs) and upgraded utilities.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, you’ll lead the delivery of a geographic section of the project. You’ll be trusted to plan the work, drive construction methodology, lead teams and subcontractors, and keep delivery moving across safety, quality, programme and cost. Key role responsibilities

  • Lead the safe, efficient and high quality delivery of your zone across programme, budget and day to day execution.

  • Plan construction methodology and coordinate labour, plant and materials to keep work flowing and resources optimised.

  • Manage budgets, programmes and monthly forecast cost to complete, with clear reporting on project progress and performance.

  • Lead, mentor and grow site and office teams, while building strong working relationships with subcontractors, clients and the wider project team.

  • Maintain high standards across safety, environmental, quality and compliance requirements within your area of responsibility.

We’re looking for someone with

  • 8 to 10 years’ experience in a discipline, zone or project management role on major civil or infrastructure projects.

  • A BE, NZCE or Diploma in Civil Engineering.

  • Strong knowledge of NZS3910, the Construction Contracts Act, budget management, forecasting and subcontractor management.

  • Proven ability to lead high performing teams, mentor others and build a collaborative, accountable team culture.

  • Strong communication and relationship skills, with a track record of delivering quality outcomes while maintaining high safety and environmental standards.

Skills Required
