The Job:
We are seeking a Zabbix Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing the Zabbix monitoring system to ensure the seamless performance and health of IT infrastructure. This includes configuring monitoring agents, developing dashboards, creating actionable alerts, analyzing performance data, and proactively identifying and resolving potential issues. The role also demands extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance system observability and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
What You'll Be Doing:
System Configuration

- Install, configure, and manage Zabbix servers, proxy servers, and monitoring agents across a diverse IT landscape.
- Integrate Zabbix with third-party tools and APIs for extended functionality, such as ITSM, automation platforms, or alerting systems.
Monitoring Setup

- Develop and maintain advanced monitoring templates for IT components like servers, network devices, applications, databases, cloud environments, and containers.
- Customize monitoring to support on-premises infrastructures with some supplementary cloud infrastructure.
- Automate monitoring configurations using configuration management tools such as Chef (cinc) and Ansible.
Dashboard Creation

- Design and maintain intuitive, role-based dashboards for various stakeholders, ensuring actionable insights are easily accessible.
- Create advanced visualizations that integrate metrics from other monitoring tools or data sources.
Alert Management

- Define and fine-tune thresholds for alerts to minimize noise while ensuring critical events are escalated promptly.
- Configure alerting mechanisms using diverse channels such as email, SMS, Pagerduty, and Google Workspace.
Data Analysis

- Continuously analyze monitoring data to uncover trends, anomalies, and capacity bottlenecks, leveraging historical data for predictive analysis.
- Utilize Zabbix’s analytics tools alongside other tools such as Grafana for comprehensive performance reporting.
Troubleshooting

- Diagnose and resolve issues related to data collection, configuration errors, and agent-server communication.
- Collaborate with system, network, and application teams to address root causes of recurring incidents.
Security Management

- Implement role-based access control (RBAC) for monitoring environments.
- Secure the Zabbix ecosystem by applying best practices for encryption, authentication, and compliance.
Documentation

- Maintain thorough documentation, including monitoring setup, troubleshooting guides, architecture diagrams, and onboarding manuals for new users.
Capacity Planning

- Monitor and forecast system resource utilization to ensure scalability of the Zabbix platform and IT infrastructure.
- Propose and implement optimization strategies for resource-intensive monitoring scenarios.
Training and Collaboration

- Conduct training sessions and workshops to empower team members and stakeholders with Zabbix monitoring capabilities.
- Actively participate in cross-team initiatives to improve observability and resilience across the organization.
Who You Are:
Experience Requirements

- 3+ years of hands-on experience utilizing Zabbix to monitor enterprise infrastructures.
- 1-3 years of scripting experience with Bash or Python to automate monitoring tasks and resolve issues.
- 1-3 years of experience working within Agile ecosystems, including tools like Jira and Confluence.
Technical Expertise

- Deep understanding of Zabbix architecture and key features, including triggers, actions, macros, LLD (Low-Level Discovery), and API integrations.
- Proficiency with Linux (Ubuntu), including shell scripting, or Python.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, such as SNMP, IPMI, and HTTP/HTTPS monitoring.
- Experience with database management systems like MySQL.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (ProxMox, VMware, Hyper-V) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Compensation:
The base salary range is: $70,000 - $95,000.
The Base Pay Range for this position is based on the industry benchmark for position, function, level and the company's compensation strategies. However, final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other objective business. Convoso’s compensation package also includes equity for all eligible U.S full time roles and exceptional benefits, including generous 401k match.
