The Role:
We’re looking for a YouTube-native content killer, someone who’s part video journalist, part creative producer, and 100% platform-fluent.
This isn’t brand marketing. It’s value-first storytelling made for YouTube. Think: content that people actually want to watch, like what you’d see from MKBHD, Casey Neistat, or other sharp, editorial-style creators — and then take that lens and apply it to Nothing’s unique blend of tech, design, and culture.
- You get YouTube — deeply. You understand how the platform works, what drives engagement, and how to make content feel native (not like an ad).
- You’re a storyteller first: whether you’re hosting, producing, or directing, you know how to bring a compelling narrative to life.
- You’re Japan-based and totally in tune with the Japanese creator landscape — but also aware of global trends and how content travels across cultures.
- You’re a digital journalist at heart: curious, observant, and constantly digging for what’s interesting — whether it's a story angle, a product quirk, or a cultural moment.
- On-camera skills are a big plus, but not a deal-breaker. What matters most is your ability to shape and deliver stories — either as the face, or as the director behind the face.
- You care about aesthetics. You know how to make things look and feel cool without trying too hard. Style matters — especially to Gen Z.
- Pitch and produce YouTube-native video ideas that reflect Nothing’s brand and values — bold, design-forward, culturally aware.
- Be the host or direct talent — depending on the idea — always keeping the story and the audience at the center.
- Write scripts, shape narratives, lead shoots, and deliver sharp, editorial-style content.
- Work across departments (creative, product, comms) to uncover stories that have organic resonance — not just brand priorities.
- Tap into the Japanese creator ecosystem and find unique angles that give the content a regional POV with global relevance.
- Build and grow the Nothing YouTube channel into a place of real value, creativity, and culture — not marketing fluff.
- Experience as a YouTuber, video journalist, or content producer with strong storytelling and visual instincts.
- Solid grasp of YouTube strategy — titles, thumbnails, hooks, retention.
- Bilingual in Japanese and English — and confident navigating both cultures.
- Experience directing, scripting, and producing video content from end to end.
- On-camera experience a major plus.
- Passionate about tech, design, music, and fashion — and always plugged into what Gen Z cares about.
- Basic camera and editing skills — enough to shoot scrappy content solo when needed, and speak the language of editors and DPs.
- Ability to interpret performance data (views, retention, CTR, etc.) and use insights to refine content and drive growth — you're as comfortable looking at the YouTube Studio dashboard as you are in Premiere.
This is a creator-forward, journalistic approach to brand content.
We don’t do product videos. We do videos people want to watch. If you’re excited by that — and by shaping the voice of a global tech brand with culture in its DNA — we want to hear from you.
- A chance to shape the voice of one of the most exciting tech brands
- Fast-paced and creative environment with global reach
- A culture that values curiosity, creativity, and doing things differently
- A commitment to building a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming workplace for all

What We Do
Today, we’re left with just a few large incumbents. Lacking instinct and courage, they use research and analysis as crutches to make cold, unexciting and derivative products. Consumers are bored, no longer inspired by technology and instead feel uneasy about big tech and its impact on people's lives and society. Nothing is igniting change in the world. We’re here to make tech fun again, unleash creativity, and inspire our community to shape the future with us. About us: Nothing is a UK-based privately held company with backing from GV (formerly Google Ventures), EQT Ventures, C Ventures and other private investors including Tony Fadell (Principal at Future Shape & inventor of the iPod), Casey Neistat (YouTube personality and Co-founder of Beme), Kevin Lin (Co-founder of Twitch) and Steve Huffman (Co-founder and CEO of Reddit
