Every year, we support around 125,000 people through nearly 200 services – and it’s all made possible by our 3,500 brilliant staff and volunteers.

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the Role

We're looking for a compassionate, motivated and resilient Young Persons Recovery Coordinator to join our North Tyneside Recovery Partnership.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people affected by drug and alcohol use, helping them build resilience, reduce harm and achieve positive, lasting outcomes. Working alongside families, schools, social care and a range of partner agencies, you'll play a vital role in supporting young people through every stage of their recovery journey.

As a Recovery Coordinator, you'll manage your own caseload, providing assessments, recovery planning and tailored psychosocial interventions that empower young people to make positive changes in their lives.

No two days are the same. One day you may be delivering one-to-one interventions, the next facilitating group sessions, meeting young people in the community, attending multi-agency meetings or working alongside partner organisations to safeguard those most at risk.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you'll:

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people, delivering personalised recovery plans and ongoing support.
  • Complete triage, screening and comprehensive assessments.
  • Deliver evidence-based one-to-one and group psychosocial interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers and partner agencies to improve outcomes.
  • Carry out risk assessments, safeguarding assessments and ongoing case management.
  • Support young people to reduce substance-related harm and build long-term resilience.
  • Deliver outreach support across North Tyneside, helping young people access local services and community resources.
  • Build strong relationships with schools, youth justice services, CAMHS, social care, police and other partner agencies.
  • Maintain accurate case records and contribute to a high-quality, person-centred service.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people and who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience working with children or young people in settings such as social care, education, youth services, youth justice or similar.
  • Experience managing challenging or complex situations with confidence and compassion.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to manage your own workload and work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Experience within drug and alcohol services would be advantageous but isn't essential. We're keen to hear from people with transferable skills and a genuine passion for helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
