At a Glance:
The Yard Hand is primarily responsible for the routine maintenance and minor repairs in district yard and buildings.
What you will do:
- Handle tasks at the direction of supervisors and managers
- Maintain a weekly/monthly maintenance schedule for district buildings and yard
- Perform minor repairs within district buildings
- Report issues to supervisor
- Assist with searching for new suppliers as needed
- Perform routine maintenance on district security systems (cameras, gates, turnstiles, door controls, system controllers, solar panels)
- Provide support to light duty vehicle fleet coordinator
- Assist other departments as needed
- Partner with co-workers to work rotating On-Call shifts to handle phone calls and yard needs after-hours, weekends and holidays
- Create field transfers during On-Call shifts
- Utilize forklift to load/un-load trailers in yard
- Utilize pole truck to assist stacked yard department
- Run errands as needed
What you need:
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License and a good Driver’s License record
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests
- Ability to perform work in various conditions
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage time effectively
- Ability to work effectively with in-house customers, co-workers, and suppliers
- Good written and oral communication skills
Not a must, but a plus:
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance
- Forklift & manlift certified
- Basic skills with Pole Truck
- Basic knowledge & skills with Excel, Word, Outlook
