As a Yard Coordinator / Strategist you will coordinate yard planning activities with due regard to productivity and optimum use of staff, equipment and space. Coordinate ship planning activities to comply with Customer commitments, evaluating tight connections among different vessels, adapt gangs assignments for smooth operations and optimise appointments of gangs.
All to be propelled by a continuous drive, seeking operational excellence through the LEAN methodology.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Coordinate with Yard Facilitators and Yard coordinators shifts to ensure yard operations flow smoothly and with high productivity to ensure an optimal terminal productivity in general, including pre planning of all yard tasks necessary to obtain it, optimizing the yard assets necessary to perform within the mentioned productivity levels, with special attention to the yard density levels at terminal and taking care that civil works, maintenance, and other possible yard restrictions don’t affect the correct yard flow needed, all above designing a yard strategy according to proforma berthing and possible customer needs.

Coordination with all necessary stakeholders to ensure a good flow of empties in yard minimizing the dwell time of them at our terminal.

Coordinate with berth planners, ship planners, shift managers and terminal supervisors to ensure vessel operations are planned in the most optimal way so that productivity levels are in accordance with terminal objectives, making that crane work sequences are pre planned to comply with customers commitments, evaluating tight connections, Have work sequences ready soon enough for the most optimal gang appointment, and being the focal point to ensure stowage plan collaboration with lines central planners.

Local SOPs vessel/berthing planning/Yard planning design and maintenance for further upload/revision in Mavim & Confluence.

Hoc and Terminal projects collaboration and management. Continuous focus on improving processes and solve problems through Kaizens both leading and participating, as well as follow up.
What we are looking for (previous experience, qualification and competencies)

3+ years of relevant work experience in terminal operations, logistics, or supply chain;

Requires a bachelor or master degree in logistics, Information technology, applied economy or any other relevant field

Previous experience as a yard strategist is a plus

Requires in depth knowledge of Navis N4, its associated optimization and automation modules

Previous experience in an (semi) automated terminal is a differentiator

Understands safety regulations, safe working procedures and safe materials handling procedures

Ability to quickly identify and quantify problems or improvement opportunities;

Ability to perform data analysis and visualize complex data in a clear and simple way for internal & external stakeholders and management;

Familiarity with system logic and algorithms;

Driven to continuously improve and optimize performance;

Strong communication skills and stakeholder management (able to communicate at different levels);
