Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Java Microservices Developer at AVP level with strong system design capabilities, enterprise mindset, and AI-assisted development approach. The role requires designing scalable, secure, and reusable solutions while leveraging AI tools to improve engineering productivity and delivery efficiency.
AI-Assisted Development (Primary Focus)
Actively leverage AI-powered tools (GitHub Copilot, Gemini, etc.) for:
- Accelerating microservices development and API design
- Generating boilerplate code, test cases, and documentation
- Supporting debugging, issue analysis, and performance improvements
- Refactoring code while maintaining standards and quality
Ensure validation of AI-generated solutions for:
- Security, performance, and scalability considerations
- Compliance with enterprise coding guidelines and standards
Drive responsible adoption of AI within the team and identify productivity improvement opportunities

Your key responsibilities
- Design and develop enterprise-grade Java microservices using Spring Boot aligned to architecture standards
- Define and implement robust API designs including versioning, pagination, error handling, and security best practices
- Ensure APIs are scalable, backward compatible, and follow enterprise API governance standards
- Implement microservices design patterns and choose appropriate solutions for given problem statements
- Work on event-driven architecture using Kafka, messaging queues, and streaming concepts
- Evaluate design trade-offs and provide recommendations for optimal solutions based on performance, cost, and scalability
- Collaborate closely with architects and senior technical leads for solution design and implementation alignment
- Analyze existing systems and ensure enhancements or fixes do not introduce regressions or performance issues
- Drive reusable and extensible design thinking with a focus on long-term maintainability
- Contribute to CI/CD, deployment strategies, and cloud-native implementations
- Provide support for production issues including root cause analysis and stability improvements
Your skills and experience
Architecture and System Design Expectations
- Strong understanding of API design principles including versioning, authentication, authorization, and rate limiting
- Ability to design and implement event-driven systems using Kafka or similar technologies
- Comfortable applying design patterns and selecting appropriate architectural approaches
- Ability to articulate trade-offs between different design options
Database and Data Understanding
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of ACID vs BASE properties
- Understanding of CAP theorem and distributed data system trade-offs
- Ability to choose appropriate data storage solutions based on use case
Technical Skills
- Java and Spring Boot for microservices development
- REST API design and implementation
- Messaging systems such as Kafka, queues, or streaming platforms
- Databases: Oracle, MS SQL, and exposure to NoSQL databases
- Build tools such as Maven or Gradle
- Version control using Git or Bitbucket
- CI/CD pipelines and artifact management (Artifactory)
- Containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
Cloud and Platform Awareness
- Experience with cloud-based implementations (GCP preferred)
- Understanding of cloud-native architectures and distributed systems
Engineering Practices
- Strong adherence to coding standards and organizational development guidelines
- Focus on writing clean, maintainable, and testable code
- Ability to review code and enforce best practices across the team
Leadership and Collaboration
- Collaborate effectively with technical stakeholders including architects and senior engineers
- Provide inputs on design decisions, trade-offs, and implementation strategies
- Mentor and coach junior developers and support them in resolving BAU issues
