Role: Senior Automation Engineer
Location: Liverpool, UK (hybrid)
Engagement: Independent Contractor | 3–6 month contract – to start ASAP
Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to support the design, improvement and maintenance of automation frameworks and test tooling across delivery teams. This role is suited to someone with strong hands-on automation experience, solid coding ability, and a good understanding of CI/CD and quality engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain and improve test automation frameworks
- Write clean, scalable, reusable automation code using sound OOP principles
- Support CI/CD integration for automated testing
- Review code, resolve issues and contribute to framework improvements
- Help improve code quality, maintainability and test coverage
- Work closely with technical teams and provide guidance where needed
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in test automation engineering at senior level
- Solid object-oriented programming skills
- Experience building or enhancing automation frameworks
- Good CI/CD pipeline experience
- Strong code review, troubleshooting and refactoring skills
- Knowledge of scalable, maintainable test design principles
- Comfortable working with stakeholders and technical teams
Desirable
- Experience with static code analysis tools such as SonarQube
- Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience
