Role: Python developer (Junior – Mid)

Availability: At least 4 days per week (5 preferred)
Kindly note that this is an immediate start contract position, therefore the candidate will need to start within 48 hours of offer being extended. Notice periods unfortunately cannot be considered. You must be set up as an independent contractor to invoice us monthly for your hours/days worked.
Please also note that as an independent contractor, you will have your own hardware and provision for loadshedding in a fully set up home office space.
Summary
Fintech project in the reconciliation space needs an immediately available Python developer to deliver production features under an experienced tech lead. Ideal for a strong graduate or junior–mid engineer who learns quickly and is happy working primarily in Python. Django is in the stack, but prior Django experience isn’t required.
What you’ll do
- Build and iterate on back-end features and small services in Python, guided by the tech lead.
- Contribute to API endpoints, data handling and lightweight integrations.
- Write clear, tested, well-documented code, and participate in code reviews.
- Fix bugs, tidy debt and support small enhancements during the engagement.
- Collaborate asynchronously in a remote team, communicating progress and blockers early.
What you’ll bring
- Solid Python fundamentals and willingness to code in Python day-to-day.
- Comfort with at least one web framework (Django, Flask or FastAPI; Django exposure a plus but not required).
- Basic understanding of REST, JSON, Git workflows and unit testing.
- Some SQL familiarity and an interest in fintech, payments or reconciliations is advantageous.
- Proactive, reliable communicator who can operate with light guidance.

- Clear written and verbal communication in a remote setting.
