The Westfield Specialty Intern Program is a paid, ten-week program that offers students the opportunity to obtain firsthand insight into the insurance business. Every day you'll learn and develop your skills but you'll also have a clear and supportive path ahead of you. You'll gain the confidence to take on real projects, build your network and learn from senior leaders across our business. The 2027 Summer Intern Program will run from June 7th to August 13th.
We are seeking Intern candidates to work with our Actuary team in our Chicago, IL office.

Participants in the Westfield Specialty Summer Intern Program are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving, growing insurance company. You will gain valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge during the 10-week program. As a summer intern you will work side-by-side with industry leaders on dynamic projects that provide ample opportunity for challenges, learning and achievement. Responsibilities
An Actuary Intern at Westfield Specialty works on a variety of projects to gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry and develop technical skills. Including:
Assist with actuarial analyses supporting pricing initiatives.
Gather, validate, and analyze large data sets using actuarial and statistical techniques.
Support the development and maintenance of actuarial models, reports, and dashboards.
Prepare summaries, presentations, and recommendations based on analytical findings.
Assist in evaluating trends related to claims, premium, exposure, and profitability.
Participate in data quality reviews and process improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with underwriting, finance, claims, and other business partners to support strategic decision-making.
Conduct research on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging risks.
Complete special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
- At minimum must be sitting for Actuarial Exam; successful completion of one or more actuarial exams highly preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL, R, Python, Power BI, or other analytical tools is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to be onsite in office 4 days a week
