About the Role
WrkTalk is hiring a Lead Backend Engineer to own and scale the backend architecture of its enterprise communication platform. This is a hands-on leadership role involving system design, team mentoring, architectural decisions, and building high-performance, secure, real-time communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design and build scalable backend systems using Golang and NestJS (Node.js).
Architect and maintain microservices, WebSockets/WebRTC, and distributed systems.
Optimize PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka and application performance.
Lead code reviews, engineering best practices, and CI/CD processes.
Mentor backend engineers and drive technical excellence.
Collaborate with Product, Frontend, and DevOps teams.
Required Skills
7+ years of backend development experience.
2+ years leading engineering teams.
Strong expertise in Golang, Node.js/NestJS.
Experience with Microservices, WebSockets, PostgreSQL, Redis.
Good knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native deployments.
Strong system design and architecture experience.
Preferred Background
Product-based company experience.
Experience building real-time, high-scale applications.
Strong ownership mindset and ability to lead technical decisions.
Ideal Candidate
A hands-on Engineering Lead who can both architect complex backend systems and manage/mentor engineers, with experience building scalable, production-grade products.
Skills Required
- 4+ years of backend experience building high-performance systems
- Expertise in Node.js and NestJS framework
- Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and Redis
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (deployments and cluster management)
- Strong command of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and authentication protocols
- Prior experience with real-time systems (WebSockets, WebRTC)
- Experience with mediasoup
