JOB DESCRIPTION

FoxNews.com & FoxBusiness.com are looking for an experienced Writer, Politics to join our team. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in a fast-paced newsroom and a deep understanding of politics and the digital news landscape. You “live and breathe” news, with a sharp eye for breaking, compelling, and exclusive stories that serve our audience. You can write and publish multiple stories per day with speed and accuracy, and know how to frame them in a tone and format consistent with the Fox brand.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write and publish multiple clean, engaging, and accurate stories per day

• Cover breaking political news with speed, clarity, and accuracy to solidify Fox News as a go-to site for developing stories

• Source national and international media for stories that resonate with our audience, with complete and proper attribution

• Pitch and pursue original and exclusive stories through strong sourcing and editorial instincts

• Interpret real-time analytics and adjust story packaging (headlines, selects, framing) to maximize performance and engagement

• Craft compelling headlines and selects optimized for digital audiences

• Follow your beat(s) closely—even on weekends and holidays—to ensure timely and relevant coverage

• Inform editors of current and future developments on your beat on a daily basis

• Collaborate with editors and fellow reporters to ensure consistent, high-quality coverage

• Maintain high editorial standards and adhere to journalistic ethics and AP style

• Demonstrate sharp editorial judgment and a strong sense of what matters to the Fox News and Fox Business audiences

• Ensure tone, framing, and style are consistent with the Fox brand

• Be available for travel to pursue stories when necessary and maintain an “on-call” mentality for breaking news coverage

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• 2+ years of experience covering the news in a professional newsroom

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience

• Deep interest in U.S. politics, including campaigns, Congress, and the White House

• Strong knowledge of AP style and a clean, crisp writing style

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Proven ability to write for a digital audience with clarity, precision, and urgency

• Flexible schedule and willingness to work some holidays and respond quickly to breaking news

• Professionalism and availability during regular working hours, including while working remotely

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $67,000.00-80,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
