Job Description – Worship Leader

Community Church is seeking a person to lead our congregation in worship. The life of the applicant for this position should bear evidence of a strong relationship with Jesus, experience in ministry leadership, a good reputation in their community, and demonstrated character of integrity and commitment to the faith.

Job duties and qualifications include:

  • Musical proficiency vocally and instrumentally, and to be able to lead and teach arrangements to our worship team. Includes choosing songs that support the pastor’s message and scriptural text, and getting them out to the team via Planning Center.
  • Modeling and motivating the people of the church to worship God, that they might enter in and experience the refreshing that comes from surrendered worship. This includes the ability to bring encouragement from the platform, illustrations, reading of scripture, etc.
  • Build and nurture the worship team. Building relationship with the various team members including musicians, singers, sound techs, and pro-presenter volunteers. To be aware of their life situations and be a shepherd/leader over the group. To build the team by meeting and recruiting new team members. Create a sense of belonging and unity of purpose.
  • Become familiar with our sound system, visual systems (including live stream), and be able to facilitate repairs or replacement of components when necessary. Make sure the stage is set for rehearsal before the band arrives on Sunday morning.

This position is currently a half-time position, with the opportunity for growth based on the growth of the worship ministry, and the ability to provide other ministry benefits to the church. We have a budget for equipment needs, fellowship with the team, and appreciation gifts.
