Job Description
Albemarle is hiring a Workshop Team Leader. This position is located at the Kemerton site.
What You Will Do
Responsible for management of the workshop to ensure all work activities are completed safely, on time and in accordance with operational procedures, work instructions and company policy.
Lead and motivate a workshop team to ensure productivity is optimized to a high standard.
Monitor performance and provide training, guidance and feedback through routines and face to face meetings.
Plan and oversee daily workshop activities to meet the plant overall priorities.
Ensure correct allocation of resources, equipment and tooling to safely execute maintenance activities.
Monitor and control workshop costs including labour, parts and materials.
Ensure all workshop tooling, equipment and machinery is maintained to a high standard and are in good working condition and workshop personnel are trained to operate equipment and machinery.
Coordinate repairs, servicing and calibration of tooling, equipment and machinery.
Maintain inventory of spares and supplies.
Ensure compliance to operating standards to work instructions and maintain a high level of operating discipline to ensure timely completion of repairable work orders. Ensure all work activities meet company and industry standards, and work instructions are developed and adhered to.
Conduct inspections and quality checks on completed tasks.
Maintain accurate records of workshop activities, including work orders, strip & assess reports, test reports, and safety checks, and copy to the relevant Equipment History folder
Liaise with internal departments to discuss job requirements, priorities and progression of repairs, provide technical advice and problem-solving support.
Be a visible safety leader, maintain a high operating discipline and build a high performing team that maintains focus on safety.
Set measurable key performance indicators, in consultation with the mechanical engineer (operations support), for the workshop team and review quarterly to ensure objectives are tracking as required.
Develop team members to optimize skillsets and improve workshop capability and efficiency.
What You Bring
Required:
3 or more years’ experience in a similar position in a workshop environment or supervisor role.
A demonstrated ability to build and lead a diverse team to develop a safe, inclusive work environment that delivers reliable, cost optimised production.
Collaborative relationship building and negotiation skills.
A demonstrated ability to identify strengths and weaknesses in team members, delegate work appropriately to build capability and achieve outcomes.
A working knowledge of continuous improvement and risk management framework.
A working knowledge of operational budget development and management.
Advanced computer and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) skills.
Experience with SAP, particularly in managing work orders and notifications.
Preferred:
Trade Certificate or Equivalent Tertiary Qualification
Cert IV in Frontline Leadership or similar.
