The Opportunity
We are seeking a Workover Engineer to act as a vital technical partner to our Completions and Production groups. In this role, you will drive the end-to-end lifecycle of critical well intervention projects, including the rigorous planning and execution of frac plug drill outs, complex workovers, and plugging jobs. You will leverage your expertise to optimize operational procedures and manage AFEs, ensuring projects remain on budget and directly contributing to well uptime and asset value without compromising safety or environmental standards.
Location
This is a hybrid position based out of our Morgantown, West Virginia, office. You’ll be expected to work in the office three days a week.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop procedures that fully encompass INRs internal engineering standards and abide by state regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare and distribute RFPs to ensure INR is receiving fair market price for all services.
- Develop AFEs for all Workovers and P&A Operations.
- Ensure accurate cost/data tracking for Operations under supervision.
- Schedule/Conduct Pre-Job meetings with key business partners and all necessary internal employees.
- Provide regulatory department with required documents for P&A permits
- Make proper notifications to state regulatory bodies prior to starting work.
- Work closely with the Production team to develop workover and intervention programs.
- Balance a schedule that maximizes cost savings by utilizing Completions equipment/personnel.
- Provide around-the-clock support for Field Operations staff.
- Prepare all end of well documentation necessary prior to submittal dates for the regulatory bodies for the states in which INR operates.
- Prepare end-of-well reports and lessons learned documentation.
- Ensure all documentation is aligned with regulatory, environmental, and corporate requirements.
- Participate in daily operations calls.
- Support the Director of D&C with end of month business reviews by gathering and preparing data.
Your Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- 6+ years of relevant experience in Drilling, Completions, or Production roles (Workover experience preferred).
- Strong command of MS Office Suite and WellView.
- Experience with Spotfire, Power BI, or equivalent data visualization software is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements, Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) processes, and budget management.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to address operational issues and make timely decisions, both remotely and on-site.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, and attention to detail.
- High level of integrity with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to see, hear, talk and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.
- Able to operate standard office/computer equipment.
- Must be able to perform physical work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments, including harsh weather and rugged terrain.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
