Under the direction of the Director of Learning and Development, the Workforce Development Training Coordinator-SUD is responsible for the Implementation of clinical onboarding, training, and support to new workforce members in clinical programs as well as ongoing training and support for tenured staff.  The Workforce Development training coordinator is required to instruct on curricula, course outlines, and training materials based on regulatory requirements, program contracts, and based in person directed, trauma informed, and CLAS models of care and serve as the subject matter expert in training for the Substance Use Disorder program.

Subject matter experts for the Substance Use Disorder program includes but isn’t limited to: impacts of substance use for individuals served, overdose prevention practices and extensive knowledge in medication assisted therapy (MAT) and other substance use programs and community resources. Must maintain an up-to-date spreadsheet for CCBHC measures that records the number of SUD specific trainings delivered to individual learners.

Provides trainings that meet the wide range of learning styles and ensures the effective use of modern training methodologies (in-person groups or individual training activities as well as e-learning). The Workforce Development Training Coordinator collaborates with similar subject matter experts for successful onboarding and training as well as promotes center wide workforce engagement, recruitment, and retention activities. Must demonstrate versatility in delivering training not only on substance use, but also crisis response and intensive services.

Other duties as assigned to promote effective training, quality services, and workforce support. The Workforce Development training coordinator will provide learning strategies that aligns with policy and procedure, compliance, contract and state standards. The Workforce Development Training Coordinator is proficient in the Learning Management System (Relias) including course creating, enrollment and tracking course completion. Training is provided through group or classroom settings, one on one and in real time with individuals served out in the field. The Workforce Development Training Coordinator will be designated as a backup trainer and will also undergo cross training in multiple programs for additional versatility. Must have current Texas driver’s license for transportation to and from either internal or external trainings.

Qualifications

Education, Training, & Experience (including licensure & certification)

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field from a four-year university.
  • Bachelor’s degree must meet Texas Administrative Code requirements for a Qualified Mental Health Professional-Clinical Services (QMHP-CS).
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work preferred
  • Texas Licensure (LCDC, LPC, LCSW, LMFT) with good standing preferred
  • Has at least two years clinical experience in a community mental health setting providing services to those with serious mental illness and specifically substance use disorders
  • Comprehensive knowledge of person centered care, crisis management, cultural competency and CLAS standards, care coordination and trauma informed care
  • Must have current Texas driver’s license
  • At least one year experience in program training, supervision, and/or support preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


  • Extensive knowledge and application of Texas Administrative Code, UM Guidelines, Medicaid Billing Rules, CCBHC model of care, HIPAA, and federal and state standards
  • Extensive Knowledge of the current version of the DSM diagnostic criteria for substance use disorder.
  • Demonstrate skill in continually adapting trainings based on a variety of learning methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of the needs and characteristics that are associated but not limited to those with severe mental illness, substance use related disorders, and/or severe emotional disturbance, intellectual and development disorders
  • Extensive knowledge of person and family centered care with ability to model and implement person driven care with a cultural sensitive demeanor and trauma informed presence
  • Proficiency in using the administrative functions of the current LMS Relias
  • Ability to teach, organize, and effectively implement training materials including use of the LMS (Relias)
  • Ability to cope with and assist others in handling frustration and to be flexible in meeting organizational workload demands.
  • Ability to work independently, organize work efficiently, and to prioritize workload demands.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to provide and model service delivery with individuals receiving services when necessary.
  • Ability to engage workforce in a creative and meaningful way while maintaining the fidelity of the training material
  • Flexibility to work across multiple divisions to provide training and support as needed, such as becoming certified in outside trainings such as ASIST, MHFA, and YMHFA

Skills Required
