Basic Job Functions:

  • Our Workforce Development Internship is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about manufacturing and training that is looking to gain hands on experience. In this role the intern will be working closely with team members to learn production processes and work closely with experts to create, development and implement training for our manufacturing workforce. This is an in-person opportunity (not remote) at our Perrysburg, Ohio facility. 

Education/Experience:

  • No prior experience required.

  • Experience developing and providing instructional based learning material would be preferred.

  • Pursuing a technical or educational degree in a STEM related field.

  • First Solar encourages all interns to register their internship with their College or University.

 

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Must have good communication skills and comfortable interacting with others necessary to learn and teach.

  • Competent in Microsoft tools (word, excel, powerpoint), basic picture & video editing.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Gather information on the product & process necessary to create training material.

  • Develop powerpoint and video based training material.

  • Print and place material at the training workstations along with data entry on training plans and updates.

  • Train others as needed.

  • Support team in onboarding new associates, inclusive of leading plant tours.

  • Other duties as assigned

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to Manager of Workforce Development 

  • Will be paired with a Workforce Development Specialists for day to day work guidance and support.

  • This position will not have direct reports.

 

Travel:

  • Travel between the Perrysburg plants is required.

  • No long distance travel is required. 

     

Estimated Salary Range:

  • $22-$25/hr.

     

Hybrid Physical Requirements:

  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
  • All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).

 

Office Physical Requirements:

All positions in our office require interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
