The Role
Job Description

  • Oversee day to day workers compensation operations for NSW Self Insurance to ensure high quality claims outcomes and reducation in human impact. 
  • Operate as part of a high performing, collaborative team supporting workers compensation functions and key stakeholders. 
  • Permanent role based at Mascot Campus.

The Workers Compensation Legal Technical Specialist role within the Qantas NSW Self Insurance Workers Compensation team will provide technical advice to the team while overseeing a portfolio of litigated claims in accordance with relevant state legislation, guidelines. As a Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for managing internal and external stakeholders' relationships, including instructing lawyers, working closely with HR, IR and other business partners, as well as manage matters before the Personal Injury Commission. 

You’ll have – 

  • Minimum 3 years of workers’ compensation experience in relevant State and/or Territory   
  • Extensive working knowledge in workers compensation claims management, dispute resolution and related litigated matters  
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply Workers’ Compensation legislation.    
  • Proven ability to build constructive and effective working relationships through influence and collaboration with others.    
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.   
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and administrative skills.   
  • Proficiency in coaching and mentoring all levels of management and employees.    
  • Ability to handle documents and situations of a confidential nature.   
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.   
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.   
  • Highest standard of personal presentation and professional behaviour   
  • Excellent interpersonal skills    
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills with the ability to positively influence others   
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
