Job summary:
Acrisure is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Claims Supervisor to lead a team of claims professionals while ensuring exceptional claim handling, client service, and operational performance. This role is responsible for providing technical leadership, coaching adjusters, overseeing complex workers' compensation claims, and ensuring claims are managed in accordance with company standards, client expectations, and applicable regulations.
The Supervisor serves as the primary technical resource for their team, providing guidance on escalated claim matters involving coverage, compensability, litigation, reserving, settlements, and claim strategy. In addition to supporting team development, this role partners closely with Regional Leadership to monitor workloads, maintain quality standards, and deliver outstanding service to clients.
This position is ideal for a workers' compensation expert who enjoys mentoring others, solving complex claim issues, and helping build a high-performing claims team. Previous people leadership experience is highly valued, but we are also open to experienced technical leaders who are ready to take the next step into management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 4 to 6 workers' compensation claims professionals
- Serve as the primary technical resource for escalated workers' compensation claim questions and complex claim strategy
- Oversee claim handling activities to ensure compliance with company standards, client requirements, and applicable state regulations
- Review complex claims involving compensability, coverage, litigation, reserving, settlements, and benefit determinations
- Monitor team workloads, productivity, and claim quality while supporting timely claim resolution
- Provide regular coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to help develop adjusters and strengthen technical expertise
- Approve claim settlements, reserve changes, and other claim decisions within established authority
- Support litigation management, vendor oversight, and cost containment strategies to achieve quality claim outcomes
- Ensure timely statutory filings, accurate documentation, and compliance with client handling instructions
- Lead team meetings and establish accountability for operational goals and follow-up activities
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and developing claims professionals
- Build strong relationships with clients, brokers, insureds, and internal leadership while supporting exceptional customer service
- Participate in claim reviews, operational planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Extensive workers' compensation claims experience required
- Demonstrated expertise handling complex workers' compensation claims, including litigation, reserving, settlements, and claim strategy required
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience strongly preferred
- Experienced Senior Workers' Compensation Adjusters with demonstrated leadership ability are encouraged to apply
- Strong knowledge of workers' compensation laws, regulations, and claims administration practices required
- Ability to coach, mentor, and provide technical guidance to claims professionals
- Experience overseeing claim quality, performance, and operational workflows beneficial
- General liability or commercial auto claims experience considered an asset
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance leadership responsibilities and technical claim oversight
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and claims management systems required
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment
- Willingness to travel occasionally for team meetings, client visits, conferences, or business needs
Education and licenses:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field beneficial
- Workers' Compensation certification highly beneficial
- Industry designations such as AIC, CPCU, ARM, WCCA, or similar professional certifications considered an asset
