Job Title: Workers Compensation and Leaves Administration Analyst

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Department: Human Resources

Reports to: Manager, Human Resources Operations

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Workers’ Compensation and Leaves Administration Analyst is responsible for the administration of Loram’s workers’ compensation and leave of absence programs. The role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant handling of work‑related injury claims and employee leaves, coordinates return‑to‑work and employment impacts, and serves as a central point of coordination between employees, leaders, Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, and external vendors. The position operates within HR Operations and supports consistent, well‑documented processes that manage risk, support employees, and meet regulatory requirements.

This position plays an integral role in maintaining the quality and consistency of HR services in alignment with Loram’s ICARE values.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Administer workers’ compensation claims from initial report of injury through claim resolution, including coordination with carriers, third‑party administrators, medical providers, managers, and HR partners, and oversight of return‑to‑work activities and work restrictions.
  • Administer employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, medical, disability, and personal leaves, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies and coordinating with leave and disability vendors, Payroll, and Benefits.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation related to workers’ compensation and leave cases, ensuring records, notices, and communications meet regulatory, audit, and internal standards.
  • Provide guidance and operational support to employees, leaders, and HR partners regarding workers’ compensation and leave processes, expectations, and employment impacts.
  • Monitor, track, and report on workers’ compensation and leave activity, including open cases, lost‑time claims, trends, aging, and related metrics.
  • Support HR Operations activities related to compliance, audits, process improvement, and cross‑functional coordination, while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, psychology, business management, international business, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of human resources experience with demonstrated knowledge of federal and state employment laws, audit practices, and DOT regulations.

*7+ years combination of education and experience in Worker Compensation, Disability Management and Leave Administration, Reporting and Analysis, Human Resource Administration

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with employment recordkeeping.
  • Strong work ethic aligned with Loram’s mission and values.
  • Problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement.

Preferred Qualifications, Licenses/Certifications:

  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP)
  • Experience in fast-paced environments, railroads, transportation, heavy construction, or similar industries
  • DER Certification under DOT 49 CFR Part 40
  • Familiarity with FRA Part 219, Drug & Alcohol Testing Rules

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires successful completion of the following:

  • Social Security Verification: The individual’s name must correspond to their Social Security number and date of birth.
  • Nationwide, federal and state, multi-county criminal background check. Up to a seven-year history is considered.
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing: All applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Employees in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-incident drug and/or alcohol testing in compliance with federal regulations and company policy.
  • Employment Verification: Current and prior relevant employment experience will be verified to confirm the candidate meets the minimum required years of experience for the position.
  • Education Verification: Post-secondary education at the associate degree level or higher will be verified, including degree(s) earned and dates of completion.

Compensation:

Loram determines compensation based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.
