Workday Senior Specialist
Job SummaryThe Workday Senior Specialist plays a key role in supporting and delivering Workday implementation, optimization, and Application Management Services (AMS) engagements. The role combines functional expertise, client advisory, system configuration, testing, training, and ongoing support activities to help clients maximize the value of their Workday investment.
The Workday Senior Specialist works closely with clients, consultants, project managers, and delivery leaders to provide Workday best-practice guidance, troubleshoot complex business requirements, support solution delivery, and ensure high-quality client outcomes. This role also serves as a mentor to junior team members and contributes to capability development within the practice.
Key ResponsibilitiesWorkday Solution Delivery- Support the delivery of Workday implementation, deployment, enhancement, and AMS engagements.
- Configure and maintain Workday solutions across HCM, Recruiting, Talent, Learning, Compensation, Payroll, Time Tracking, and other modules.
- Analyze client requirements and recommend Workday leading practices.
- Support solution design discussions and configuration workshops.
- Ensure delivered solutions align with client requirements and business objectives.
- Provide clients with guidance on Workday functionality, business processes, and best practices.
- Advise clients on process optimization and system adoption opportunities.
- Support tenant assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist clients in evaluating and adopting new Workday features and releases.
- Lead or support Unit Testing, SIT, and UAT activities.
- Coordinate defect management and issue resolution.
- Participate in deployment planning, cutover activities, and go-live readiness reviews.
- Support hypercare activities following production deployment.
- Develop and deliver client training sessions.
- Create user documentation, job aids, process guides, and knowledge articles.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for client administrators and support teams.
- Support user adoption and change enablement initiatives.
- Investigate and resolve functional issues raised by clients.
- Support business process changes, configuration updates, and enhancement requests.
- Provide ongoing advisory services to improve platform utilization.
- Ensure SLA compliance and high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Support and mentor Workday Analysts and junior consultants.
- Share leading practices, reusable assets, and lessons learned across engagements.
- Contribute to practice development, training, and capability-building initiatives.
- Support pre-sales activities, solution demonstrations, and proposal development when required.
Knowledge, Education, Certification, Skills & Technical Proficiencies
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in technical, business, or financial discipline.
If not already a holder of the relevant Workday Certification, successful completion of appropriate Workday Certification(s) is a requirement of the role, as well as on-going successful re-certification.
Additional Workday certifications may be required.
Proven consultative skills to guide client and internal discussions to agreement of solutions in a timely manner.
Experience implementing complex, practical business solutions under multiple deadlines.
Able to prioritize and organize increasingly complex work to ensure overall timeliness and quality standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to frequent change.
Proven experience working creatively and analytically in a dynamic environment.
Demonstrated advanced experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
