Workday Accounting Center Specialist (Tax & R2R Focus)
We are seeking a highly skilled Workday Accounting Center Specialist with strong expertise in tax configuration and Record-to-Report (R2R) processes. This role is responsible for managing event-driven accounting, ensuring accurate financial postings, and supporting tax-compliant accounting flows across Workday Financials and integrated systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting Center (Core Focus)
- Configure and maintain Accounting Center frameworks, including Accounting rules and mappings, Source-to-accounting transformations.
- Support event-driven accounting processes, ensuring accurate postings to the General Ledger.
- Troubleshoot issues related to Incorrect mappings, missing accounting entries, Integration data inconsistencies.
- Perform impact analysis for changes affecting accounting flows.
- Collaborate with upstream system owners to ensure data quality and completeness.
Tax Configuration & Compliance
- Configure and maintain Tax codes, rates, and applicability rules, VAT/GST and withholding tax setups
- Ensure proper tax treatment across source transactions feeding Accounting Center, Customer and supplier invoices
- Investigate and resolve tax-related discrepancies in accounting postings.
Record-to-Report (R2R)
- Support end-to-end R2R processes, including Journal entries and adjustments, period-end and year-end close
- Ensure accurate accounting postings generated from Accounting Center.
- Maintain alignment between subledger, Accounting Center, and GL.
System Configuration & Support
- Configure and support Ledgers, accounting structures, and worktags, Business Process Frameworks (BPFs) where relevant
- Support EIB loads, data corrections, and integration testing.
- Perform root cause analysis for system and accounting issues.

Skills Required
- 2-5 years of Workday Financials experience and demonstrated understanding of Workday configurations
- Experience configuring, testing, validating and implementing Workday business processes
- Experience maintaining master data in Workday
- Experience assessing Workday releases and recommending/implementing changes
- Understanding of financial applications (General Ledger, Consolidation and Business Intelligence systems)
- Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority assignments and meet deadlines
- Ability to own and drive standardization, optimization, and simplification of processes and technical solutions
- Previous functional experience in finance operations, accounting, financial reporting, and financial data management
