Are you a college student or recent graduate who is passionate about ministry and exploring what it could look like to pursue vocational ministry?

The Willow Creek Summer Internship Program is a 10-week, hands-on experience designed to help future ministry leaders discover and develop their passion for ministry. Throughout the summer, interns will gain practical ministry experience, grow spiritually, and develop their leadership skills while serving alongside experienced leaders at Willow Creek Community Church.

Whether you’re already pursuing a career in ministry or still discerning if ministry is the path God is calling you toward, this experience will give you opportunities to learn, lead, serve, and grow.

What You’ll Experience

Spiritual Formation
Grow in your faith through Bible study, prayer, worship, and other spiritual disciplines as you develop both personally and spiritually throughout the summer.

Ministry Experience
Gain hands-on experience in a variety of ministry environments. You’ll have opportunities to help plan and execute events, contribute to ministry initiatives, and collaborate with experienced ministry leaders.

Leadership Development
Strengthen your leadership skills through training, mentoring, project ownership, and opportunities to help lead ministry events and initiatives.

Explore Your Ministry Path

Our internship program offers a wide variety of opportunities, allowing you to gain experience in an area that aligns with your gifts, interests, and calling. Internship opportunities may include:

  • Marketing & Communications (Marcom): Utilize your skills in graphic design, marketing, and communications through a variety of projects across Willow.
  • Creative Arts & Worship: Explore worship leadership and creative filmmaking while contributing to weekend services.
  • Groups Ministry: Dive deeper into discipleship by leading, equipping, and supporting groups throughout the summer.
  • Student Ministry: Help elevate student ministry programs through summer initiatives and camps.
  • Compassion & Justice: Serve in the Care Center and support global serving teams through hands-on Compassion & Justice ministry.
  • Central Operations: Lead and support large-scale projects, events, I.T. initiatives, and special weekend experiences.
  • Willow Kids: Gain experience serving and elevating ministry programs for children from babies through 5th grade.

Internship Details
  • Dates: June 1–August 13, 2027
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week
  • Length: 10 weeks
  • Pay: $15/hour
  • Time Off: All staff and interns are off the week of June 28–July 2. Interns will be allowed up to 7 unpaid days off throughout the entire 10-week internship program.
  • Applications Open: October 1, 2026

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for individuals who:

  • Are 18 years of age or older and at least one year removed from high school graduation.
  • Preferably are currently enrolled as a full-time student or are a recent graduate of an accredited college or university.
  • Have a strong desire to pursue vocational ministry after college or are actively exploring whether ministry is the path they want to pursue.
  • Are eager to learn, grow, serve, and develop their leadership skills.
  • Have a passion for ministry and a desire to use their gifts to make a difference.

Skills Required

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be at least one year removed from high school graduation
  • Preferably enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university or a recent graduate
  • Strong desire to pursue vocational ministry after college or actively explore ministry as a career path
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, serve, and develop leadership skills
