- Identify customer needs and pain points, develop p user engagement strategies, and keep an eye on market trends and technologies.
- Develop a deep understanding of the market landscape, uncover and size areas of opportunity, and drive new products and services from ideas through execution.
- Work closely with other members of the WGL Energy Leadership team to develop and refine overall commercial strategy and plans to execute the commercial strategy.
- Identify and develop strategic partners including, but not limited to, Behind-the-Meter, Energy Efficiency, Energy Sustainability, and Demand Response offerings.
- Utilize a “cradle to grave” approach with product development and be the key member of the WGL Energy Leadership team to develop through execution meaningful growth for WGL Energy.
- Build a high-performing Growth team as the “cradle to grave” opportunities evolve.
- Identify and lead new market entries as WGL Energy expands its commodity footprint.
- Develop financial models for new and existing products, including forecasts of active customers, gross margin, and expected EBITDA resulting from product launches.
- Create business case presentations showing forecasted value of a new product or expansion of an existing product.
- Monitor performance of products currently in market to ensure products meet targets and engages appropriate teams to request updates to products as needed.
- Evaluate new technology needs and evolving business requirements to recommend appropriate products for the current WGL Energy portfolio by analyzing the technology ecosystem, customer needs, and industry trends.
- Provide in depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define problems, develop innovative solutions, and influence strategic product portfolio decisions.
- Estimate the total addressable market for products using internal and external data sources.
- Conduct research and generate insights, use-cases, and industry analyses to address potential future opportunities.
- Provide additional support on requested tasks, prioritize tasks, communicate across the team, proactively report performance, and develop next steps.
- Be able to collaborate, and explicitly communicate and work with AltaGas and Washington Gas team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, engineering, economics, or business.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in product development, growth opportunities and/or a similar role in the energy industry preferable with a retail energy provider.
- Experience in Behind-the-Meter, Energy Efficiency, Energy Sustainability, and Demand Response products and services.
- Self-starter and self-driven, drives for results with a get-things-done attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and drive projects forward.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret market data and make informed strategic decisions.
- Strong business acumen and market awareness, with the ability to translate customer needs into product and service requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and commercial acumen, with attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality products under rapidly changing priorities.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- A creative mindset and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate ideas in email, PowerPoint, and Excel. Communicates proactively and follows up as needed.
