WGL - Sr Replacement Project Management Specialist
Position Summary
The Senior Replacement Project Manager Specialist is responsible for managing natural gas construction project process to accomplish stated Company objectives. Individual will use project management expertise to drive cross functional alignment with scope, budget, and schedule. Effectively influences peer organizations to support the implementation of projects safely and within plan. The Project Manager is responsible for managing the life cycle of each project.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Drives execution against assigned Utility Operation targets -
• Drives execution against assigned construction targets - coordinates cross functionally to drive delivery
• Leads/develops project teams (internal and contract personnel) in conjunction with other internal processes
• Utilizes strong negotiation skills to influences individuals to accomplish objectives without direct reporting relationships.
• Effectively manages and reports in a timely manner changes in expectations, scope, company risk, schedule, and project budgets.
• Proactively assesses project design for construction feasibility concerns.
• Proactively identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Contractors) to reassess and amend the scope of work requirement, budget, and timeline.
• Communicates with team to delegate tasks and provide status of project activities and milestones
• Assesses estimate variance trends from project design estimates and coordinates to improve estimation process.
• Collects and organizes appropriate final project documentation and assists with documentation as needed
• Prepares and tracks project schedules, incorporating and analyzing input from the project stakeholders,
• including permitting, design, land acquisition, material acquisition, contractual obligations, construction, etc. Manages critical path issues to successful project completion and removes barriers on the critical path.
• Ability to accurately forecast and effectively recommend allocation of both company and contractor resources.
• Assists with balancing level of resources required with completion of projects.
• Responsible person for assuring effective communication.
• Manages, coordinates, and monitors work progress of key stakeholders and team resources.
• Assists team with making sound recommendations related to schedules/workloads/resource requirements as needed to accomplish project and program objectives
• Coordinates, Schedules, and administers APRP or assigned category workload meetings to deliver on commitments.
• Complies with all regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures.
• Assures appropriate documents have been secured and retained in a timely fashion to manage company risk.
• Represents the Company at external functions relating to projects.
• Implements and/or participates on continuous improvement of processes as needed;
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Project Management or other quantitative required
• 5+ Years experience with demonstrated projected management of infrastructure construction projects of varying sizes and types required
• Experience in the natural gas industry preferred
• Project Management or Business Process certification is preferred
• Must have demonstrated ability to serve as an effective leader
• Demonstrated strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative to conceptualize and analyze multiple scenarios in solving broadly defined business problems
• Demonstrated Negotiation skills
• Ability to work well with all levels of Company and contract personnel to facilitate the accomplishment of project work.
• Must be able to process information and make decisions under stress
• Requires the ability to read and understand technical documents including legal contracts and information on new management concepts and new technology. Must be able to read and understand civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings and schematics
• Working knowledge of industry specific applicable codes, procedures, policies, and regulations required
We offer a competitive salary range of $91,500 to $125,625 commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
