WGL Inside Sales Representative
WGL is seeking an Inside Sales Rep to support Business Development growth objectives by educating and informing customers on the benefits and use of natural gas that answer customer energy needs. You will serve as key point of contact and customer advocate during the new business process, tracking and facilitating gas service, proactively identifying and following up on new business opportunities, including special offers and rebates, other products, services, or tariff changes that provide customer value.
You Will

Respond to telephone inquiries from customers, contractors, dealers and employees about the availability of natural gas for residential conversions, light commercial projects and other projects as assigned.

Provide - information on featured products and sales programs by supplying accurate technical data on gas equipment, local code requirements, and explains the responsibilities of the plumbing-/HVAC trades and underground contractor related to the installation of gas service and meter connections. Initiate outbound telephone contact with customers to solicit conversion to gas or the purchase of new products and services, including applications for gas service, various cost factors, rates, service equipment and other technical data.

Acts as a customer’s advocate within Washington Gas’s new business processes; applies customer service skills to proactively monitor customer projects and anticipate and resolve potential customer concerns; and responds to customers, contractors and employees about the status of jobs and company procedures and policies.

Track requests and initiates follow-up both internally and externally to ensure timely processing of applications and installation of facilities.

Sets up new business projects and enters key data using automated systems such as WMS and SalesForce.com to facilitate cost estimates, installation of appropriate infrastructure, and the development of key customer data.

Assembles and reviews for completeness all conversion job or program data including, but not limited to, site plats and plans to verify accuracy of written job requirement and proactively runs reports to prioritize assigned jobs and prevent delays.

Maintain telephone contact with internal and external customers (general public and others) to resolve problems related to conversions to natural gas or other products and services, answering questions and furnishing and/or obtaining information as necessary.

Record data received during telephone conversations into various databases which eventually become part of departmental weekly, monthly or annual reports.

Shift Work: As Required
You Have

High School Diploma/GED Plus five (5) years of experience in inside or outside sales.

Bachelor's Degree In business administration or related field and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in inside or outside sales; or Associate's Degree degree in business or related field and three (3) years of experience in inside or outside sales

Telephone sales or high level customer service experience in high call volume product driven customer focused environment can be substituted for inside or outside sales experience; or

One (1) year of internal experience as Inside Sales Support Clerk (Grade 4A).

Six (6) months probationary period with successful evaluation.

Must successfully pass a Writing Skills Evaluation Assessment.

A basic understanding of natural gas equipment installation and operation preferred.

Demonstrated effective sales and customer service skills required, as well as demonstrated ability to apply skills to customer calls to meet company growth and service objectives.

Demonstrated accuracy interpreting and collecting information is required.

Must possess strong verbal/written communication, interpersonal skills and sound judgment in making decisions within established procedural guidelines.

Proven ability to use computer applications and systems, including Microsoft Office, required; working knowledge of WMS, CIS, and/or Smallworld preferred.

Working knowledge of jurisdictional plumbing and HVAC codes, regulations and operation of natural gas and electrical appliances, operation of domestic appliances and gas line installation and techniques preferred.
We offer a competitive starting pay rate of $29.07/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
