WGL - Advisor, Strategy & Planning
We are seeking an analytical, business-minded professional to join our Utilities team as an Advisor, Strategy & Planning. In this role, you will support the development, execution, and performance management of our Utilities business strategy while partnering with leaders across the organization to transform complex data into actionable insights. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic thinker who enjoys solving business problems, working with large datasets, influencing decision-making, and helping leadership navigate an evolving business environment.
What You'll Do
Support the annual and multi-year strategic planning process for the Utilities business
Translate business objectives into measurable goals, initiatives, and performance metrics
Monitor progress against strategic priorities and identify areas requiring attention or intervention
Help communicate strategic priorities and drive alignment across the organization
Analyze business, customer, operational, regulatory, and financial performance trends
Conduct in-depth analyses to uncover root causes, identify opportunities, and evaluate emerging risks
Develop recommendations and mitigation strategies to support business decisions
Support scenario planning, forecasting, and business case development
Build and maintain executive, business unit, and functional performance dashboards
Monitor leading and lagging indicators to support informed decision-making
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate reporting processes
Prepare executive-ready presentations, reporting, and strategic recommendations
Partner closely with Finance, Operations, Regulatory, Customer Experience, Growth, and other key stakeholders
Support special projects and strategic initiatives that advance Utilities business objectives
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, or a related discipline
2-7 years of experience in strategy, analytics, management consulting, corporate planning, utility operations, finance, or a related field
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Experience working with large, complex datasets and translating findings into practical business recommendations
Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the utility, energy, infrastructure, or other regulated industries
Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence and dashboarding tools
MBA, CFA, or another relevant professional designation

The role offers a competitive salary range of $114,200 to $166,450 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, this position is eligible for our Short-Term Incentive compensation program. Employees also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and wellness coverage, retirement savings programs, and paid time off.
