Job Description

At Atlas, we're providing services that enable communities to flourish and thrive. We're looking for a Wetlands Ecologist to join our Indianapolis, IN team. Core Responsibilities

  • Manage projects, client relations, and staff delegation.

  • Lead and participate in wetland and waters delineations, report writing, and federal and state JD requests.

  • Prepare permit applications for USACE, state, and local agencies.

  • Coordinate with USFWS and state agencies on threatened and endangered species effects determinations.

  • Conduct wetland and stream assessments, categorizations, and support restoration, mitigation, and native habitat projects.

  • Support other disciplines as needed and travel for field and office work, including occasional overnight and out-of-state travel.

You’ll thrive here if you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related environmental field required; MS preferred.

  • 4–8 years of wetland delineation and waters permitting experience

  • Valid driver’s license, clean record, U.S. work authorization, and drug screen.

  • Ability to perform fieldwork in rough terrain and inclement weather, carrying up to 30 lbs.

  • Knowledge of USACE manuals, Clean Water Act 404/401, and permitting processes.

  • Wetland plant identification; experience with GPS, ArcGIS, and electronic field data collection.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Strong communication, technical writing, multitasking, project/budget management, teamwork, and staff training skills.
