Description
CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for a part-time Wellness Mentor. Under the direction of the Wellness Center Manager, the Wellness Mentor acts as a leader and role model for members, visitors, and community members. The Mentor understands the center’s mission as well as basic principles of wellness, recovery and peer support. This position works directly with the Center Manager and in collaboration with the members to plan, implement, and maintain Wellness Center operations.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Work with the manager to support the Agency mission by meeting and identifying needs of the local community and make connections with other relevant organizations and agencies.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of community resources and agencies to ensure members have access to robust support such as referrals to substance use recovery agencies, food banks, financial support agencies, and more.
- Collaborate with manager and members to plan and conduct all aspects of day-to-day operations of the center.
- Ensure smooth daily operations of the center by maintaining a clean, organized environment.
- Hourly Rate: $17.50 candidates without a Peer Certificate or related BA. *MUST obtain certification within a year*
- Hourly Rate: $19.23 candidates with a Peer Certificate
Part-time | 18 hours/week | NJESL eligible
SCHEDULE: Monday |Tuesday| Wednesday: 1:00pm-7:00pm
Requirements
- MUST have a High School Diploma / GED.
- Peer Certification preferred.
- Outstanding ability to build strong, effective relationships with others.
- Demonstrates a willingness to openly share lived experience, including current or past use of mental health and/or addiction services, experiences of homelessness, and elements of their personal recovery.
- Familiarity with the 8 dimensions of wellness, the mental health system, and available resources in the region.
- Make and maintain contacts and positive relationships with individuals who receive or have received mental health and/or substance abuse services.
- Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong overall computer literacy.
- Bilingual skills are a plus!
- MUST have Valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
- Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own life experience dealing with mental health/substance use issues to inspire and support others.

What We Do
Collaborative Support Programs of New Jersey, Inc. (CSPNJ) is a peer-led non-profit organization providing community-based services to support individuals with behavioral health conditions and substance use. Their mission focuses on promoting responsibility, recovery, and wellness through the provision of community wellness centers, supportive and respite housing, human rights advocacy, and innovative educational programs for those with lived experience in behavioral health.
