About this Opportunity

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Service is an integrated wellbeing and support service delivered in partnership across the Maroondah and Yarra Ranges communities by Wellways, Access Health and Community, Eastern Health and Oonah. Operating six days a week with extended hours, the service supports people aged 26 years and over experiencing mental health challenges, including co-occurring alcohol and other drug concerns. Community-led and co-designed by participants, supporters and the local community, the service places choice, connection and recovery at the centre of care. We are committed to reconciliation and to creating culturally safe, welcoming and responsive services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, recognising the importance of addressing historical inequities and supporting social and emotional wellbeing.

As a Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you will join a lived experience-led Support and Connect Team where lived experience is valued, respected and central to the way we work. Using the Intentional Peer Support (IPS) framework, you will walk alongside participants as they navigate their recovery journey, providing peer support, service navigation and connections to clinical and community services that align with their goals and preferences. This designated Consumer Lived Experience role offers the opportunity to contribute to Victoria's mental health reform, promote self-determination, provide a warm and inclusive first point of contact for participants, and help shape a workplace culture that celebrates lived experience and supports the growth of the peer workforce.

You will need:

• Personal experience of distress, trauma, mental illness and/or substance use and the recovery journey, accessing and navigating health care services, including public mental health services and a willingness to draw upon your experiences and recovery journey to inform your work. 

• Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core or Advanced Training (Essential)

• Minimum qualification: Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work, AoD, Community Services, or other relevant certificate level qualification (desired)

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Consumer Peer Work role

You will also need:

• Current valid Driver’s License and the ability to undertake travel for the role

• Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check

• Right to Work within Australia

• Satisfactory National Police Records Check (valid within the last 12 months)

• NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
