Position Title: Welcome Officer Intern

School/Campus: Enko La Gaieté Secondary, Yaoundé

Reports To: Admission Manager 

Duration: 3 Months (Full-Time)

Job Purpose

The Welcome Officer Intern serves as the first point of contact for Enko La Gaieté Secondary. This role is crucial in delivering a warm, professional, and organized experience for parents, visitors, students, and staff. The intern will support front-office operations, handle incoming communications, and assist the administrative team with daily campus operations over a 3-month period.

Key Responsibilities1. Reception & Front Desk Operations
  • Welcome parents, guests, vendors, and visitors warmly and direct them to the appropriate office or staff member.

  • Maintain a tidy, organized, and welcoming reception area.

  • Manage the visitor logbook/register, ensuring safety protocols and security check-ins are followed.

  • Receive, log, and route incoming phone calls, generic emails, and physical mail/deliveries to the relevant departments.

2. Parent & Community Relations
  • Provide basic information regarding school schedules, admissions procedures, and campus events to visiting or inquiring parents.

  • Receive parent requests or messages and ensure they are promptly routed to teachers, coordinators, or school administration.

  • Assist in organizing parent-teacher conferences, open days, or school events hosted at the reception or campus common areas.

3. Administrative & Operational Support
  • Assist the HR and Administrative teams with data entry, filing, scanning, and document archiving.

  • Help track student arrival/tardiness logs at the front desk when required.

  • Manage the scheduling of meeting rooms or administrative appointments as directed.

  • Perform other administrative tasks assigned by the Administrative Lead or Head of School.

Key Requirements & Qualifications
  • Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Higher National Diploma (HND/BTS), Bachelor’s degree in Executive Secretariat, Communications, Business Administration, Hospitality, or a related field.

  • Language Skills: Bilingual in English and French (fluent verbal and written communication in both languages is essential for interacting with our international parent community).

  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets).

  • Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding customer service orientation, professional presentation, warm demeanor, and strong listening skills.

  • Organizational Skills: High attention to detail, ability to multitask in a busy environment, and strong time management.
