About the Role

Ready to shape the future of digital at a leading university right here in Adelaide? This is your chance to redefine how Flinders University connects with its audiences online.

As the Digital Experience Manager, you will take the lead in transforming and elevating our web presence, ensuring a consistent, accessible and compelling digital experience across all platforms. We’re looking for someone who thinks differently, challenges the status quo and brings bold ideas to life.

You will drive the strategy, design, delivery and continuous optimisation of our web ecosystem, creating user-focused experiences that improve engagement and outcomes. Working closely with stakeholders across Marketing, IDS, International and Student Experience, you’ll also spearhead key transformation initiatives such as content redesign, platform migrations, personalisation and new feature development.

You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of digital specialists—including UX/UI designers, developers and content professionals—fostering a high-performing environment grounded in best practice and innovation.

Some of the key position responsibilities of the role are:

  • User experience optimisation – Promote and embed best practice across UX, UI, SEO, accessibility and interaction design. Use data insights, user research and analytics to enhance digital journeys and drive continuous improvement. Translate strategic direction into intuitive, high-impact experiences.

  • Content and information architecture governance – Establish and maintain a consistent, user-first approach to web content and structure. Strengthen information architecture, improve discoverability, reduce duplication and ensure alignment with accessibility and design system standards across decentralised publishing environments.

  • Stakeholder engagement – Collaborate with key portfolios (Marketing, IDS, Student Experience and International) to align digital delivery with organisational priorities and user needs. Act as a trusted advisor and contributor within governance frameworks, influencing direction and prioritisation.

  • Technology and innovation – Keep pace with emerging trends in digital experience, UX and AI. Partner with designers and developers to introduce innovative solutions, trial new concepts and enhance the overall web experience through experimentation and continuous evolution.

A more comprehensive list of responsibilities is available from the position description.

About You

You bring strong expertise in user experience and have worked within complex digital ecosystems or large-scale web platforms. You understand how to design, structure and continuously improve high-performing websites, ideally within higher education or similarly multifaceted organisations.

You are an experienced people leader, confident in guiding and mentoring multidisciplinary teams across UX, development and content. You excel at balancing priorities, driving delivery and building trusted relationships with stakeholders.

Your strengths lie in translating strategy into tangible digital outcomes. You have a deep commitment to human-centred design principles, including accessibility, information architecture, UX/UI, SEO and usability best practice.

Tertiary qualifications in UX design, human-centred design, interaction design, digital design, information architecture, marketing, or a related discipline—or equivalent experience—are required.
