At eternal.ag, we're building the future of sustainable food production. Our mission is to convert the world's existing greenhouses into fully automated facilities that can produce fresh food year-round - addressing the critical need to double food production by 2050 while facing severe labor shortages, water scarcity, and climate challenges.
Your RoleWe’re hiring a Web Developer (full stack) to build our systems that power our public website and related web services. You’ll develop APIs, integrate third-party systems, and improve performance, reliability, and security across our web platform.
You’ll work closely with front-end developers and engineers to ship production changes end-to-end cleanly, safely, and with strong engineering fundamentals.
What You’ll DoBuild and maintain web servicesDevelop and support the services that power eternal.ag’s website and related web tooling. You’ll ship production code and improvements end-to-end with clean architecture, reliable deployments, and solid documentation.
Integrate third-party systems and webhooksConnect the platform to external tools (e.g., ATS, CRM, analytics, email) through robust APIs and webhooks. You’ll design for retries, idempotency, and observability to keep integrations dependable.
Improve performance and reliabilityProfile and optimize API performance, implement caching strategies, and monitor system health. You'll identify bottlenecks and improve response times across critical services.
Raise the bar on testing and qualityWrite unit and integration tests that protect critical paths and reduce production risk. You’ll participate in code reviews and improve maintainability through refactoring and shared standards.
Support CI/CD and operational excellenceContribute to build pipelines, deployments, and environment management so changes ship safely and frequently. You’ll add logging, monitoring, and alerting to make issues visible and debuggable quickly.
Who You AreCore requirements- 0–3+ years of professional experience building production web backends with Node.js. or Python and front-end frameworks such as React
- Proven ability to build and maintain APIs (REST/GraphQL), including auth and data validation.
- Experience with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/MySQL and/or MongoDB) and data modeling.
- Comfort owning changes end-to-end: implement → test → deploy → monitor.
- Experience designing service boundaries, modularizing codebases, and handling growth
- Deployed and operated services in cloud environments (AWS/Vercel)
- Built monitoring/alerting and improved debuggability with structured logs, metrics/tracing, and tools like Sentry and Datadog.
Real ownership: You’ll own core parts of our web platform and ship changes that directly affect how eternal.ag operates and scales.
Build from scratch (with support): You’ll help establish the foundations for our Node.js web services, architecture, standards, and tooling, while working closely with experienced teammates.
High-leverage engineering work: You’ll focus on reliability, performance, and security work that compounds over time and makes shipping faster and safer.
Global team: Work closely with a tight team across our Cologne HQ and Bengaluru office, with short feedback loops and high autonomy.
Mission at scale: Join a team building fully automated food production sites to make fresh food more resilient and sustainable worldwide.
