Position Title: Web Content Specialist
Location: Mc Lean, VA, (occasional support at FHWA HQ, Washington, DC)
Clearance required: Unclassified. Requires USDOT badge and favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI, low risk / non-sensitive); E-Verify required
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Write and edit web content (text, images, alternative text), manage required reviews, and use the Content Management System (Drupal 10) to upload, maintain, and post content on agency websites and intranets.
- Optimize text for SEO and ensure all web pages comply with Section 508 federal accessibility laws.
- Coordinate the agency's quarterly certification process to ensure content on all pages is current; fix broken links and perform web page maintenance.
- Use graphic applications to crop, recolor, resize, and manipulate web images as needed.
- Develop and deliver outreach training to staff, provide quality control of data/content, and coordinate processes and procedures.
- Maintain one main Drupal site (approximately 1,700 pages) and several minor Drupal sites, plus periodic minor changes to SharePoint sites.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related discipline.
- 5-7 years of experience in web content management, 3 of which shall be within the last 5 years.
- Demonstrated web experience, including CMS use and Section 508 web compliance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Transportation experience, especially in highway and surface transportation.
- Drupal 10 experience.
