Job Description
The Marketing team at Alertus is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Web Content Manager to oversee the ongoing management, performance, and evolution of our website. This role will play a critical part in ensuring our web presence is engaging, accurate, optimized for discovery, and aligned with our brand and business objectives.

The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on — someone comfortable managing the technical and administrative aspects of a CMS while also contributing to content development and optimization. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the website as a core marketing channel and proactively identifies opportunities to improve content, performance, user experience, and optimize for the shifting landscape of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization).

This role reports to the Director of Marketing and is based in our Baltimore headquarters. Regular in-office presence is expected to support collaboration with the marketing team.

A Day in the Life:

  • Drive the strategic migration of our website, overseeing content mapping, URL redirects, QA, and launch stabilization.
  • Build high-converting landing pages and dynamic site sections that align with our brand.
  • Execute advanced SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) strategies to ensure our content ranks in traditional search and surfaces in AI chat/LLM responses.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including plugin updates, site health monitoring, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Monitor performance, identifying trends to improve traffic and conversion rates.
  • Ensure all content is accurate, accessible, and aligned with our brand while maintaining site speed and security.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Deep hands-on experience with WordPress CMS and page builders, specifically Elementor.
  • Proven track record of leading or heavily supporting a full-scale website migration, including the preservation of SEO equity and data integrity.
  • Strong expertise in SEO and a forward-thinking understanding of AEO—knowing how to structure content for AI crawlers and chat interfaces.
  • Proficiency with Semrush, Google Analytics, and Google Search Console to drive strategy and reporting.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage complex timelines, from "broken link" fixes to "site-wide" launches.
  • Strong written skills with the ability to edit or create web copy that is both user-friendly and search-optimized.
  • Ability to travel on occasion.

Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript to facilitate custom tweaks within WordPress.
  • Experience implementing or managing AI Chat tools or chatbots on-site to enhance user engagement.
  • Familiarity with CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) and A/B testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of website accessibility (ADA) and privacy regulations (GDPR/CCPA).
  • Experience connecting WordPress with CRM or Marketing Automation platforms.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Web Development, Computer Science, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in web content management, specifically within a B2B marketing environment.

Alertus Career Advantages:

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans
  • Short-term Disability, Accident, Hospital, and Cancer Insurance
  • Live Near Your Work HomeBuying Incentive

What We Do

Alertus - Redefining Mass Notification for 20+ Years Our Mission is to enable organizations to disseminate information to help protect lives, secure assets, and maintain business continuity. OUR MISSION IS PERSONAL. We are committed to providing customizable, scalable, and cost-effective mass notification solutions because we know even a few seconds of warning can help save lives during an emergency. In 2001, an F3 tornado ripped through the University of Maryland campus. There was no warning, and two students — sisters — were killed. The tornado caused dozens of injuries and millions of dollars in damages. An idea was born to engineer a mass notification solution that can be implemented anywhere and activated quickly to help prevent another tragedy. Alertus was founded in 2002 and has focused its efforts on developing superior lifesaving notification solutions ever since. Alertus' dedicated teams of safety, security, and technology leaders are committed to continuously raising the bar for mass notification. Our technology is state of the art, with interoperable software solutions that help tie legacy systems into our next-generation audible and visual notification hardware. It's not enough for us for our customers to have our products. As their trusted partner in mass notification, we want to ensure customers are at peak readiness with the training and support they need to get critical notifications out at a push of a button. We offer pre-sales professional services, ongoing customer training, and 24/7 customer support.
