The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

Job Responsibilities:
SALARY:
$65,000 - $75,000
VACANCY STATUS:
Immediate, Open Position
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate with WCM Lead for any scheduled projects for the day
  • Support with managing Continuous Improvement (Big Ideas) program & tracking of significant CI Projects
  • Support MAFACT best practices and implementation
  • Participation in the preparation & attendance at internal & external MAFACT audits
  • Lead Kaizen events and coordinate implementation
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset
  • Conduct value stream mapping, process mapping, time studies
  • Facilitates problem solving and continuous improvement in all areas of production
  • Provide training to all employees so that they clearly understand the concepts of improvement (standardization/MPS/5S/TPS/Lean/Pull System etc.)
  • Support with preparation of Employee Communication Meeting Slides as required
  • Participate in weekly GEMBA Walks
  • Prepare weekly KPI charts
  • Conduct Daily Audits - standard work / work cell 5S
  • Prepare reports / presentations
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Respond to ANDON calls and escalate as necessary
  • Review and respond to communications (emails / texts) from other shifts
  • Escalate issues to the team
  • Perform regular formal/informal workplace inspections
  • Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
  • Perform and ensure team performs all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
  • Comply with the requirements of CTPAT/PIP
  • Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the Magna Code of Conduct
  • Enforce safety rules and correct unsafe acts or conditions
  • Be involved in the accident/incident investigation process
  • Inform Plastcoat Management of any additional training or resources required by their employees to effectively perform their work
  • Adhere to applicable quality systems and IATF16949 standards
  • Adhere to and promote the Employee Charter and work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Plastcoat Employee Handbook
  • Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards
  • Ensure work area is kept neat and organized
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
  • Minimum completion of post-secondary education in Engineering or related field

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a related field (i.e. Manufacturing/Industrial/Quality Engineering, Project Management, CI Coordinator/Black Belt, etc.)
  • Previous leadership experience an asset
  • Experience in automotive industry an asset

SKILLS:
  • Extensive knowledge of MPS/Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and build effective teams
  • High level of mathematical and analytical skills
  • Strategic thinker
  • Results-oriented and able to work under pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate in MS Word and spreadsheet programs
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD an asset
