Wayfinding Planner & Information Designer II

Overview:

As a part of the HKS Experiential Brand team, this role will collaborate with a team of
multi-disciplinary planners and designers across sectors and practice groups. Participates in the planning of the wayfinding experience strategies that create the foundation for successful designs. Develops relationships and earns the trust of clients, partners, and colleagues. Detail-oriented and self-motivated with strong strategic thinking.

Responsibilities:

• In support of the Senior Wayfinding Strategist, analyzes wayfinding challenges/solutions, develops wayfinding strategies, and creates information design schemes
• Designs wayfinding presentations and documents
• Leads sign programming (location plans and message schedule) in Sign Agent Pro with internal and external teams
• Provides support in the visioning and discovery process of projects   
• Assists in coordinating and planning for site visits, surveys, audits and punchlists  
• Creates visual assets that effectively communicate strategic concepts 
• Collaborates on conceptual design concepts with the Creative Director 
• Develops and systematizes selected conceptual design 
• Coordinates and maintains key planning principles and programmatic details with the design documentation team
• Participates in internal planning sessions and design reviews 
• Participates in client reviews and workshops and collaborates with project stakeholders and partners
• Assists in building internal systems and processes for planning and quality of wayfinding projects   
• Some travel will be required

• This position is preferred to be based in Austin or Dallas

  This position will be a mix of remote and in-office work

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• Accredited professional degree in Graphic Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Computer Graphics or related field
• Typically 5+ years of experience in environmental/experiential graphic design and wayfinding, or industrial design, interior design, and/or architecture
• Intermediate experience with wayfinding strategy/master planning for institutional projects (healthcare, higher education, transportation) that are large, complex and system based preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Advanced – expert-level experience, knowledge or skills

Intermediate – experience, knowledge or skills required to produce high-quality solutions or work

Basic – familiar with primary concepts or capabilities and may perform elementary functions depending on role

• Advanced knowledge of Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and Miro required
• Advanced knowledge and experience in Sign Agent Pro software required
• Intermediate understanding of spatial relationships, movement flows and human behavior in the built environment required
• Intermediate knowledge in sustainability, integrated design guidelines and building and ADA codes required     
• Intermediate knowledge of experiential branding processes and its integration into architectural and construction processes required
• Intermediate ability in written, graphic and oral communications with clients and team required
• Intermediate organizational skills, attention to detail and process oriented 
• Intermediate ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing with clients and team required
• Intermediate ability to problem solve and collaborate on innovative solutions required
• Intermediate ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in team environment required
• Intermediate ability to work on multiple projects at the same time required
• Intermediate ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality required
