As a Field Applications Engineer focused on SerDes and high-speed signal integration, you’ll help customers implement Ciena’s WaveLogic platforms across cutting-edge electrical and optical environments.
Why This Role MattersThis is a high-impact, customer-facing role that sits at the core of our optical-electrical strategy. You’ll help top-tier global customers bring our coherent modules into their platforms, navigating SerDes, signal integrity, and link design challenges.
What You’ll Do- Act as lead FAE for SerDes-focused integration of Ciena’s WaveLogic optical modules
- Guide customers through PHY interface design, jitter analysis, and system optimization
- Partner with internal silicon and optical teams to translate field feedback into product enhancements
- Support compliance, testing, and validation of high-speed interfaces
- Represent Ciena in customer reviews and standards discussions
- 5–10+ years of experience in SerDes design, signal integrity, or high-speed link engineering
- Deep understanding of jitter, loss budgets, link equalization, and compliance
- Familiarity with tools like VNA, BERT, oscilloscope, eye/mask testers
- Experience working with top silicon or optics vendors
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with senior technical stakeholders
- You want to be on the frontier of coherent optics and SerDes convergence
- You’re passionate about enabling customers to deploy world-class networking systems
- You bring a systems mindset with hands-on expertise in electrical design and integration
Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position is $98,000 - $198,800 CAD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
