Role Summary/Purpose:
The Senior Technical Project Manager (Infrastructure) is responsible for leading complex infrastructure programs and projects from initiation through implementation and operational handoff. This role drives execution across multiple technical domains—Compute, AD/Identity, Network, and Information Security—while also coordinating HR touchpoints and vendor deliverables, when required. The ideal candidate is technically fluent, highly responsive, relationship-oriented, and able to translate complex technical work into clear, executive-ready communications and presentations for senior leadership and stakeholder audiences
Organization overview: This role is part of the Technology Operations, Infrastructure & Cloud Platforms organization and will provide technical project management leadership for infrastructure, application, end user devices and/or employee experience related initiatives. This role will report to VP, Digital Workforce Services.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead planning and execution of infrastructure initiatives (e.g., compute platform upgrades, identity/AD changes, network modernization, cloud foundation work, data center/co-location activities, standardization and resiliency improvements).
Own the scope, schedule, milestones, resource coordination, and delivery outcomes using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methods, as appropriate.
Maintain project artifacts including project plans, RAID logs (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), decision logs, and change control documentation.
Drive contributor alignment and execution across Compute, AD/Identity, Network, Information Security, HR, and other dependent teams.
Identify and actively manage inter-team dependencies, handoffs, and sequencing to keep delivery on track.
Facilitate working sessions, technical checkpoints, and governance forums to ensure progress and timely decision-making.
Provide clear, timely status reporting, both written and/or live presentation, with actionable insights (progress, risks, decisions needed, next milestones).
Create and deliver executive-level presentations for senior leadership, translating technical topics into clear, concise, informative, decision-ready content.
Build trusted relationships and influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders to remove project impediments and drive successful outcomes.
Proactively identify risks and develop mitigation and contingency plans; escalate appropriately with recommendations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of experience leading technology projects/programs, with significant delivery experience in infrastructure initiatives .
Strong command of scope management, scheduling, dependency management, governance cadence, change control, and delivery metrics.
Experience applying Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches based on project needs.
Working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure domains: Compute (servers/virtualization/cloud foundations), AD/Identity concepts, and Network fundamentals (DNS/DHCP, routing/switching concepts, firewalls/load balancing concepts).
Ability to engage effectively with engineers and translate technical details into business-impact terms.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence without direct authority across diverse teams
Proficiency with common project delivery tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira/Confluence) and reporting tools (Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with ServiceNow is beneficial.
Desired Characteristics:
PMP certification (preferred) or equivalent credentials (PgMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2).
Experience delivering projects in regulated and/or security-sensitive environments with strong audit and control expectations.
ITIL Foundation (or practical experience with incident/problem/change management and operational transition).
Strong vendor management experience including SOW deliverables tracking, milestone-based execution, and escalation management.
Experience with cloud migration/enablement programs, identity lifecycle initiatives, or major network transformations.
Familiarity coordinating workforce-related technology changes with HR (e.g., onboarding/offboarding processes, identity governance integrations).
Eligibility criteria
Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of experience leading technology projects/programs, with significant delivery experience in infrastructure initiatives .
Work Timings: 4 PM - 1 AM IST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs)
