The VP, Tax Operations & PMO is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of tax services, ensuring the performance and stability of operational applications, and driving strategic and regulatory change through structured project management.
This role ensures operational excellence, system reliability, and successful execution of business-critical initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong tax operations expertise, technical systems oversight, and disciplined project management capabilities within a regulated or financial services environment.
1. Operational Leadership – Tax Services
· Oversee daily tax services operations, including compliance, reporting, filings, reconciliations, and client deliverables.
· Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant execution of all tax-related processes.
· Establish, track, and report on KPIs, SLAs, and operational performance metrics.
· Drive process standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Maintain robust operational controls and governance frameworks.
· Partner with Tax, Finance, Compliance, and Risk teams to ensure regulatory alignment.
2. Application Monitoring Systems Oversight
· Lead monitoring and support of all tax-related systems and operational applications.
· Ensure high system availability, reliability, and performance.
· Oversee incident management, root cause analysis, and remediation processes.
· Implement proactive monitoring tools and dashboards to detect and prevent disruptions.
· Coordinate system upgrades, enhancements, and change deployments with IT.
· Maintain system documentation, workflows, and control mapping.
· Ensure proper change management and release governance processes are followed.
· Lead and oversee operational and technology-related projects, including regulatory changes, system implementations, process transformations, and automation initiatives.
· Establish and maintain project governance frameworks, timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
· Prioritize initiatives based on strategic impact and regulatory deadlines.
· Manage cross-functional project teams and external vendors where applicable.
· Track project risks, dependencies, and deliverables to ensure timely execution.
· Provide clear and structured reporting to executive leadership and stakeholders.
· Ensure compliance with tax regulations, internal policies, and operational standards.
· Maintain audit readiness and support internal/external audits.
· Oversee operational risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
· Establish escalation frameworks for operational and system-related issues.
· Monitor control effectiveness and implement corrective actions as needed.
· Build, lead, and develop a high-performing operations and project management team.
· Define clear accountability across tax operations, system monitoring, and project functions.
· Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
· Serve as key escalation point for operational, system, or project-related issues.
· Provide regular executive reporting on operational performance, system health, and project progress.
· Collaborate closely with senior leadership, clients, regulators, and technology partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in operations leadership within tax services, financial services, or regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of tax compliance processes and reporting cycles.
- Experience overseeing application monitoring and production support environments.
- Proven track record managing complex cross-functional projects.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile).
- Experience with ERP systems, tax engines, workflow tools, and monitoring platforms.
- Strong knowledge of risk management and internal control frameworks.
Compensation Range: The salary range for this position is between $220,000 - $230,000.
Broadridge considers various factors when evaluating a candidate's final salary including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education.
