The Vice President, Strategic Initiatives role is responsible for advancing priorities across strategy, finance, balance-sheet management, investments, and technology as a hands-on senior leader on the Finance team. The role supports initiatives focused on new, better, and faster processes and workflows across Finance, including Asset/Liability Committee (ALCO) and board-level materials. It redesigns how key finance activities are performed so they are institutionalized, repeatable, and efficient, bringing disciplined project management and structure to ambiguous problems as The Bancorp’s Finance team continues to evolve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports financial planning and performance management, including budgeting, periodic forecasting, long-range planning, and management reporting.
  • Analyzes actual results against budget, forecast, and prior periods to identify key drivers.
  • Designs new reporting processes, dashboards, and management metrics.
  • Supports capital planning, profitability analysis, expense management, and financial scenario modeling.
  • Supports preparation of accurate, timely, and decision-useful ALCO materials in partnership with Treasury, Accounting, Risk, lending, deposit, and investment teams.
  • Analyzes balance-sheet composition, liquidity, funding, interest-rate risk, deposit trends, and investment activity.
  • Prepares executive summaries that identify significant trends, emerging risks, and recommended actions.
  • Improves ALCO production workflow, including data sourcing, templates, review procedures, and controls, so materials are produced with less manual effort and delivered on schedule every cycle.
  • Serves as the architect of Finance’s processes and workflows, translating business requirements into practical technology, data, and workflow solutions.
  • Maps current-state processes, identifies inefficiencies and control gaps, and designs scalable future-state workflows.
  • Leads planning and reporting system implementations as structured projects, from requirements through testing, change management, and adoption.
  • Establishes process ownership, data definitions, and documentation so key finance activities are repeatable, well-controlled, and not dependent on individuals.
  • Prepares presentations, analyses, and recommendations for executive management, ALCO, and the Board of Directors.
  • Leads high-priority projects that fall outside traditional functional boundaries, bringing a consistent project framework, defined deliverables, and regular progress reporting.
  • Builds reusable templates and processes for recurring executive and board deliverables so they are produced faster with less rework.
  • Communicates complex financial, operational, and technical matters clearly to audiences with varying levels of expertise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • MBA, advanced degree, or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, strategic planning, treasury, investment management, or financial operations within banking, fintech, or another regulated financial-services environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, balance-sheet management, net interest income and margin drivers, interest-rate and liquidity risk, and capital management.
  • Demonstrated track record as a process architect, designing and implementing new, better, and faster finance workflows, including process redesign, workflow automation, and technology implementations, required.
  • Experience implementing or administering an enterprise planning or reporting platform preferred.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills with expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience with Bloomberg, S&P Global, or similar market data platforms preferred.
  • Ability to work with large or complex datasets and translate findings into concise, executive-level insights.
  • Strong project-management discipline, including scoping, workplan development, stakeholder management, risk and issue tracking, and status reporting, with the ability to run multiple initiatives concurrently and deliver high-quality work with limited oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive and board-level materials.

Travel Requirements

  • This is a remote position.
  • Occasional travel expected, approximately once per quarter, for leadership meetings, planning sessions, vendor engagements, and industry or investor events.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily sedentary work performed in a remote-office or office setting; prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 12 months, the Vice President, Strategic Initiatives will:

  • Contribute to a stronger ALCO materials process so that reporting is consistent, timely, well-controlled, and clearly connects balance-sheet insights to management decisions.
  • Improve the quality, consistency, and timeliness of business planning, financial analysis, and executive and board reporting, with materials that require minimal rework.
  • Redesign and deliver at least one significant finance process or workflow, including any supporting technology integration, on time and within scope, with measurable reductions in cycle time, manual effort, reporting redundancies, and data inconsistencies.
  • Institutionalize at least two key finance activities with documented procedures, defined owners, and controls, reducing key-person dependency and supporting the Finance team’s evolution.
  • Establish a standard initiative-tracking framework so strategic initiatives have clear owners, business cases, milestones, and reported results.
  • Be recognized as a trusted cross-functional partner to executive leadership and the Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Technology, and investment teams, with a demonstrated ability to take ownership of ambiguous, high-priority initiatives and drive them to measurable outcomes.

Why This Role Matters

The Finance team sits at the intersection of the CEO, CFO, and Board, and its credibility depends on turning strategic direction into rigorous, executable financial plans. This role adds deep balance-sheet, capital, and planning expertise to that work and serves as the bridge between finance professionals, business leaders, technology teams, and third-party providers. As The Bancorp’s Finance team evolves to support a larger and more complex institution, this role is the architect of the new, better, and faster processes that evolution depends on, connecting strategy to the models, processes, and systems that execute it and raising both the quality and the speed of the Bank’s most consequential decisions.
